Smashburger - Columbia Heights

I continue to be lucky at Smashburger. Our group 4 adults and 5 kids, including several challenging customers. It was just a few days after Christmas, so the whole world is a little tired. Smashburger was a smashing success! The food was good, even by picky eaters. I'm up to probably about 50 burgers eaten at this chain over the last several years and they've all been good. Spinach and goat cheese last week another winner. The smashfries arent for everyone, but rosemary and olive oil arent that crazy. This location was clean, including the bathrooms. And the cashier was kind and helpful with our giant order and everything was made correctly and quickly.

Smashburger has pretty good food. I almost always order the classic smash chicken, grilled, no tomato. It's about a 50/50 chance that they get it right even though it will say it right on my receipt. Not the biggest deal I guess. I used to order the smash fries but they are a little to greasy for me so I opt for the regular which as good. Shoestring fries. I often order pay online, then go pick up my food. Some of the staff are unprofessional. They will go through great lengths to make sure I paid even though that should be figured out and printed on the receipt prior to me arriving. Defeats the purpose or ordering online if I have to end up waiting around anyways. This particular thing bothered me I did say something). I asked for napkins and ketchup for my to go order. I know the fries are usually on top they don't have a cover. The guy dropped the ketchup on the dirty floor picked it up threw it right in my bag. Super gross. They did remake my fries. But I feel like they should know better. I hear the food industry is a dirty place, especially in fast food but you'd hope you wouldn't see first hand. Out of sight, out of mind. Little things like this makes me wonder where else they aren't being sanitary. I've seen servers eating at the order window in between bringing food to tables. Makes it seem like they don't get breaks or maybe short staffed, I'm not sure what the issue was. A lot going on here.

Order taker seemed a little confused but was friendly and eventually got my order right other than bringing it out to eat in rather than to go as I ordered. Food was pretty standard to smashburger tasty, well cooked burger and fries and a great caramel malt. However, stars were lost due to housekeeping couldn't find a clean table and the floor around the soda machine was wet and sticky.

This review is pretty much on the customer service...I'll touch on the food when I'm done talking about their service. I ordered online and have my boyfriend pick it up. He calls me when he gets there and tells me they never received my order and that I should double check to make sure that I submitted the order. Sent him a screen shot of the email confirmation. He had to wait for them to cook my food and it was a huge inconvenience! Got my burger and it was sooooo damn sloppy! You can tell they just threw it together. Now today...I decided to give them another shot...ordered online...SAME thing happened! They said he didn't get my order and I had to wait for them to cook my food again!! Never order online. Period!

Messy, greasy poorly made burger! Soggy bun, and ketchup all over wrapper! Go to Culver's , where they at least are consistently good quality!
