La Pizzeria - Clogherhead

Dropped by here on a Saturday at the end of July 2022 high tourist season. We had not pre booked. Although very busy the venue found us a spot and we had a very enjoyable experience. The staff were lovely, the food was superb we had starters and then pizzas and pastas for mains, a bottle of house red and two beers. The bill was €100.90 excellent value. The most important thing to take from this review is that the food was gorgeous. Just great. Loved the place. Service was friendly and efficient. I’ve never been to Clogherhead before and might never have a reason to go back but, if I do, I will unhesitatingly visit La Pizzeria.

I was here in April to celebrate my friend 's birthday. From start to finish, I have to say everything was amazing. I was the first of a group of 4 to arrive. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. A waitress brought me to my table and offered to get me a drink while I waited. Once the rest of the group arrived, we were served very quickly. Two of us had pizza, and 2 of us had pasta dishes. The food was just amazing. I actually want more right now thinking about it! I rarely finish a pizza when I eat out, but I finished this one. The only downside was that I had no room for dessert. Since it was a birthday, we had a cake with us. There were 2 other birthdays and the staff had made a big thing of singing 'Happy Birthday ' to those people. My friend is very shy though and doesn 't like a lot of attention so we had a quick word in advance with one of the waitresses and they were very accommodating. No big fuss. Overall, a lovely experience. I will definitely be back!

I’ve scrolled through the reviews already about this restaurant and it’s evident that the place has gone down hill with rude staff members and bland pasta dishes. We booked a table for 8pm and when we arrived the table was not ready so we had to go back and wait in the car for another 20-30 mins although we didn’t mind as these things happen. When we sat down cutlery was left on the table clothes and a napkin thrown in the middle of the table mat (anyone who works in hospitality can immediately say this is so unprofessional ! The place was also so cold inside we had to keep our jackets on. We had starters which were all fine. For mains, we had arrabiata and cannelloni, both which tasted that the sauce had come straight from a tin of tomato purée (it was the most acidic, bland and watery sauce I think I’ve tasted- certainly not Italian cuisine which they claim to have and evident that I’m not the only person who thought this if you read through more of the reviews . We had spoken to a lovely waitress who changed the cannelloni dish for an alternative which was all fine. When another staff member (Sadhbh walked by we had grabbed her attention to ask about desert to which she said “ we only have tiramisu and a selection of ice cream but the selection of ice cream is no good”…. Already that is awful customer service and so unprofessional for a staff member to say about the place they are working for (not to mention the desert range is terrible for an Italian restaurant . I then mentioned it to Sadhbh about my pasta dish being bland and watery to which she replied “oh was it” with a sneer on her face. I said yes it was a very bland sauce and there is no flavour to it. She then replied “so what do you want me to do about it” with the most obnoxious attitude and she then walked off laughing. This rude, arrogant and horrendously trained young one is certainly no good at her job!!!! We spoke to the manager in charge on that night who apologised about Sadhbh’s attitude to then go on to say “oh she’s my best waitress” after explaining to her how rude she was to us (not sure of the standard of training that staff members are receiving in this place if she is the best they have!!! Also, they couldn’t even manage to do a proper bill receipt like any other restaurant would for us to split the bill at the end and just handed us a till receipt with the total on the bottom. The rest of the staff were so lovely and helpful which I cant badmouth them for (apart from Sadhbh who is horrendous at her job but the food has certainly gone down hill. The owner who cooked the pizza is also rude and arrogant with no customer service (he is known for this! . Certainly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone again. There are much nicer ‘proper’ Italian cuisines local in the area with high trained staff members who speak to their customers with respect ! AVOID THIS PLACE

I tried to place an order to get pizzas to take-away this evening. The woman who answered the phone was extremely snappy and rude. She tried to accuse me of driving while on the phone as she couldn’t hear me. I would never drive and speak on the phone and couldn’t quite believe this woman was so rude to accuse me of this. Impatient, snappy and rude service. I ended up telling her to forget the order and I will go elsewhere. Can’t believe how this woman spoke to me, I have never experienced this rudeness in any other restaurant.

This is my special place with the most delicious food you could ask for every time .It never fails
