Bidrage med feedbackUPDATED: My dad requested Indian food for his birthday and that’s when I remembered I tried Mausam a few years back and liked it. So our party of four came in on a Friday at around 7. There were only a few tables dining but it seemed like there was a steady flow of people coming in for takeout. We ordered a bunch of things to share: Mango lassi this was too sweet and wasn’t cold enough Garlic naan/chili garlic naan this one was still great. You really can’t go wrong with fresh, soft, butter soaked naan Samosas these were really good. I especially liked that there weren’t many peas in there. It was packed with flavor and I loved it with the green sauce it was served with Chicken tikka this was dry, so you need some of the green sauce it comes with (same sauce as the samosas) Chicken biryani not a lot of chicken and whatever chicken was in there was dry Paneer tikka masala the sauce was really good but there was barely any paneer in there. And whatever paneer there was, they were morsels Overall, I was a little disappointed with the food. I saw that they are moving and rebranding so hopefully that also means their quality will be improving too. I found this place via Yelp because I was looking for a dinner place near the Clifton AMC, since we were watching John Wick 3 afterwards. My BF and I got there at around 6:30 and it was pretty empty. To start, we had the samosa chaat (crispy samosa served with garbanzo beans and garnished with onions, tomatoes, mint, and tamarind sauce). The filling was still pretty good, even though I don't like peas (which were inside, along with boiled potatoes). I would have preferred the sauce on the side because it was basically a samosa lounging in a jacuzzi of sauce. It no longer made the dough crispy...as you can imagine, it was quite soggy. At least the sauce was good. For my entree, I had the Chicken Tikka Masala (grilled chicken cooked with tomato and fenugreek sauce with Indian spices). If you're not big on curry, then go with this dish. The spices aren't too overpowering, and the tomato based sauce is great over some rice, or dipped with naan (which we got a side of the garlic one). The chicken was cooked perfectly not dry at all. You can get the dishes mild, medium or spicy. I went with mild and it wasn't spicy at all. BF had the biryani with chicken, lamb and paneer in a tikka masala sauce. He ordered it medium since they mentioned medium was pretty spicy, but again not very spicy. Although, the medium does have a kick to it at the end, so I can see how it would become spicy, the more you eat it. It was my first time trying biryani and I really liked it. However, the lamb was pretty dry, so I would skip this. I really loved the paneer, especially with the tikka masala sauce. Another plus was that the portions are huge. We had leftovers enough for one more serving. I ate it the next day and it tasted just as good. Tip check in on Yelp for a free mango lassi!
Frozen food , pita bread nan, the curry tastes sweet , this is not Indian food from scratch!! You have to improve your food quality !!
The lunch special is an excellent deal. The food is delicious and plentiful and the price can't repeat. I'm looking forward to trying them at the new location with the buffet.
Good food, I love trying new places. Will be back when I'm in the area.
Just had a most delightful, delicious meal this afternoon and Nav, our server, made our experience top notch! We will be going again! If you are anywhere near Garden of The Gods or The Westside you have to try Mausam!
