Au Comptoir D'amelie - Clermont-Ferrand

Clean, modern and pleasant ambience, and a good variety on the menu. However, the waiting staff were a little abrupt (I saw one poor lone diner virtually ordered to a smaller table by one waiter when he had sat at a larger table at the request of another waiter) and there wasn't the friendly customer focus that we get used to these days. I had the Tagliatelle Carbonara, which was excellent. My wife had the Tagliatelle Fruits de Mer which didn't have many fruits of the sea in it, and kept her awake with heartburn. We wanted to pay cash rather than charge to our room in the Ibis next door. We were sent (again, rather abruptly) to the bar to pay, who sent us to the hotel, who wanted to send us back to the bar. In this day and age, paying cash for a restaurant meal should not be hard work. We ended up surrounded by four staff arguing about our bill in French, while we stood there like dummies. Overall, disappointing, and we would not dine there again.

Convenient for the 2 Ibis Hotels in Monferrand 10 yards! And no need to go any further for a good, if a little limited choice of menu, meal. Friendly staff and excellent quality of the food, the omelette was superbly cooked as was wife's burger. A coke and a large beer euro 33 including 10% discount for staying in Ibis!!
