Bidrage med feedbackI'm looking forward to this place. I wanted to love it. One of my favorite restaurants in Wilmington is a Jamaican place. Let me prevent this by saying that I was never in Jamaica, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. But personally, I didn't think it was very good. Jerk Chicken was not burned, but had a burned taste, Callaloo rice was ok, but needed more callaloo, cabbage was too sweet, and baked Mac n cheese was best in the middle. I will try again as I? ve saw other reviews say it was hit or miss. The staff was friendly and I think the place alone deserves another attempt. We?
After I was here almost every weekend for the last few months, I have to say that the food NIE is consistent. Always hit or miss. I wanted to love this place so bad, because it is the only restaurant of its kind here and it offers healthy, tasteful food. Consistency is a problem. The chicken was apparently reheated or old, the sauce for brown stuffing is watered down and does not last well so that it leaves the chicken dry unless you spoon the sauce up before eating. The chicken is either perfectly cooked or overcooked, depending on the day and time you go. Rice is either muddy, old or just right. Cabbage and carrot either cooked or raw. I did not expect much of Mac and cheese from a Jamaican restaurant, but it is quite decent when fresh. The guy behind the counter is ALWAYS nice and welcoming, the lady is hit or miss. I had almost everything on the menu, the taste is never the same. I had to start asking her to show me the chicken before I decide if I want to eat it. Oxtail are great and brown stew beef was also good. The best is her fried red snapper, escovitch or brown stew.
One of my fav restaurants in Clayton! I and my fiancées love to go here and the food is always amazing! We love the Ruck Chicken and Calliloo Rice! Fiancés favs are the Plantains and the Veggie/Beef Patty?s! All right!
Food is overpriced and don?t get what you paid for. Macaroni tasted like it was boiled and layered with cheese, no seasoning at all. Definitely doesn?t taste like authentic Jamaican food.
Oh my goodness. The food here is amazing! I had the curry goat and jerk chicken, and this plate hit my soul. So good it make you lick the plate. Lol
