Bidrage med feedbackNot a bad Mexican restaurant. Good wine list and tasty food and yes, Mariachis. A place for out of town business people working around Santa Fe.
This place is totally overrated, the food were no better quality than the street and priced higher than average. The waiter was hesitated to serve non-spanish speaking person. We ended up leaving the restaurant unsatisfied. The only good I can speak of this restaurant was...large margaritas, you can a good one at other places, only the SIZE that makes different. NOT-so-recommended!
Colorful restaurant and a great service, the food is good but not great, i think the price isn't worth it, because it's trying to be a traditional Mexican restaurant but you can find amazing experiences with cheaper options in downtown
It is difficult to say if Restaurante Villa María is genuine Mexican, or if is trying to be genuine Mexican. Nevertheless, colourful it is, offering a combination of folklore and entertainment for their guests of which many appeared to be tourists and larger groups of...celebrating internationals and Mexicans. Most noticeable was the five-man strong “real Mexican” band with trumpets and guitars, who accompanied the meals served in the upstairs and downstairs floors. The menu card offers plentiful choices of really large portions. As the starter, we ordered a selection of fish and seafood snacks – a good choice and more than enough for two. The other starter – crisp chicken skin in wraps – was too much. We couldn’t find space for it and asked if we could reduce our order for the mains to just one portion to share, which was accepted with a smile. Restaurante Villa Maria, does not offer fine dining – they serve solid portions of well-prepared ordinary dishes. The service is attentive and friendly. Don’t misunderstand, but this will be the perfect place to take a larger group, to go with a handful or two of friends for a birthday dinner or to take your kids for a family meal. If you are looking for a cosy place to give your spouse a unique candlelight dinner experience with high-end cuisine, this is not the place. And one more thing… their Margaritas are great. Be careful if you order the large size… they too are really large.
This is not your typical tex-mex restaurant, this restaurant serves traditional, home cooking Mexican cuisine with roots in many different states at a very reasonable price, with efficient service and after PM with live music from a mariachi. Not exceptional but with a lot...of things to go for.
