Meng House - Chiltern

The food at this restaurant used to be good, but the service, especially for takeout, was poor. I initially avoided it but decided to give it another try. When I called to place an order and asked how long it would take, they once again underestimated the wait time. The food used to be a good value and tasty, but now it is less so and more expensive. It seems like they don't care about the quality once they have you as a customer.

I used to frequent Meng House for dinner and takeaways regularly, but about three years ago, the quality started to decline. The aromatic duck in our takeaway was dry, burnt, and practically inedible on three separate occasions. As a result, we switched to Full Moon at Chalfont Station, who have consistently been great. However, when we tried to order from Full Moon tonight, they were closed for staff holidays. Thinking Meng House might have improved, we placed an order over the phone and confirmed it. When my husband went to collect the order 45 minutes later, as requested, they had no record of our order and said it would take at least another hour to prepare. It was already 8pm. This was incredibly unprofessional and disappointing. I regret giving them a second chance and will not be making that mistake again.

I didn't feel well after eating at this restaurant. I later discovered that their latest food hygiene rating was a 1, which likely reflects their poor standards and hygiene practices. It's concerning that the authorities allow them to continue operating despite receiving the lowest possible score.

Fabulous,loved it. Went fairly early tonight and it soon filled up Everything felt fresh and beautifully cooked,delicious starters and the mains were just as if not better,perfect sweet and sour chicken,tasty lamb and the best Singapore noodles I’ve had in years Can I just add that he service was incredible too,the young guy couldn’t have been more helpful or polite Will return,thank you

Been using this restaurant for 3 plus years, but last night showed me how bad this place can be, the portions are now tiny, the food seems to have been watered down, the katsu sauce pours like water , not very nice. The service was awful asked for a brandy in a warm glass, given the excuse could not warm the glass! I suppose the saying is true familiarity breeds contempt Avoid save your money
