I eat at Yale Sushi on a regular basisAlways dine in but tonight I got take outThe Seafood Udon was HORRIBLEI could not even bite the octopus.
This is a well-appointed Japanese restaurant with a good menu. Service was perhaps a bit slow, but I thought that their Spicy Tofu Bowl was worth waiting for.
This restaurant was suggested to us by friends who said it was a very good place for sushi. I am sad to say it was mediocre. On the positive side, the rolls were very well designed and displayed. The sashimi was very generous as well. The negative side was overwhelming and left a bad taste in my mouth. We ordered our regular fare, including some special rolls and appetizers. One of the rolls we ordered has spicy mayo on it. I've had spicy mayo on other sushi I've eaten and this did not taste like spicy mayo. It tasted more like Cheez Whiz. When I asked what the sauce was, the server said it was spicy mayo, but it was neither spicy nor mayo. I do believe that it was not Cheez Whiz, but it certainly tasted like it. Either way, it was not a very good spicy mayoFinally, we did not revive one of the appetizers. It did appear on our bill, which was handed to us while we were still eating. When we mentioned the missing food they wordlessly took the bill and removed the item without saying why they didn't want to serve it to us. I don't k is why we were not given this item. We were not told if it was because they didn't have any, the kitchen was closing, they forgot... we were not given a reason. It was clear to my wife and I that we were not welcome and were being rushed out of the restaurant. We arrived an hour and a half before closing and left fifteen minutes before closing, there was still one table in the restaurant when we left.We will not be returning to this restaurant.
I have lost count of how many sushi places there are in this town now. Yale Sushi is by far the best! The prices are a bit higher but the quality of fish is worth it. Come early if you go on a Friday night as they are usually packed.
