Bidrage med feedbackAte a gyros sandwich from here and it was quite tasty but too stingy on the meat. Would have given at least another star if the guy who made it had doubled the amount of meat on it, which still would not have equaled any other gyros I've had. But maybe it was a one- off, I will try another item from here to be fair.
Love this spot. Exactly like Coney in Michigan if you're missing your usual. The guys who work here are so nice and super quick.
Comfort food with Great service and reasonable prices! I was really surprised to find this place in a neighborhood of overpriced everything. I got great service, enjoyed some amazing onion rings, tried out a special coney dog really loved the snap of that east coast style hot dog casing, and had a gyro. Everything was presented well and generous in portion. I 'll be back to try more of the menu, specifically want to try some of the sandwiches and am intrigued by the nice selection of all day breakfast items. Highly recommended spot for all your favorite comfort foods.
Had Philly cheese steak sandwich, had to go back for a second one because it was so damn good
I worked at the first Leo 's Coney Island to open outside Michigan and it was located in Southport Corridor. It was my first serving job and I had a love/hate relationship with the place, but as a broke college kid who enjoyed 50% off shift meals, the food was everything to me. Because I 'm not from Michigan, once my Leo 's closed, my hopes of ever enjoying a chopped greek salad, grilled cheese pita, or decent lemon rice soup ever again were dashed. I 've been thinking about this food for the last decade and can still taste my special order mini greek salad (chickpea, feta, cucumber, pepperoncini only, chopped, add well grilled onion and chicken). While planning my last trip home to Chicago, I was thrilled to discover someone had been brave enough to try to bring the magic of Leo 's back to Chicago...and only a mile or so from its original location! I added it to my list of must-eats while in town Memorial Day Weekend. Leo 's was the first place we went after we got off the plane. I was familiar with the intersection where it was at, but couldn 't picture what building it would be in. I was caught off guard to see it is in a TINY space on Sheffield. There are maybe 5 or so tables and you order at the counter. I was initially a little disappointed that the setup wasn 't a true diner setup, but honestly, this is probably how to enjoy Leo 's best. Keep overhead costs down and focus on the food not the space. For my long-awaited reunion, I got a chicken greek salad (chopped, but I now eat all the ingredients so didn 't do my custom order of years past), lemon rice soup, pita and tzatziki, a coney dog, and my fiance had the chicken finger pita with honey mustard and buffalo and fries. I was too chicken to order my well-grilled onions like a true Michigander, but I don 't doubt that they would 've done it. Everything was exactly how I remembered it! The chicken was perfectly grilled and the salad was the perfect proportion of each ingredient. The lemon rice soup is lemony in the best way and like no other place I 've had. The coney dog we each had a few bites of and the snap of the dog plus the combo of chili, onion, and mustard is unmatched. My only regret is that I couldn 't eat more while we were there. This place is the definition of good fast casual food and I will make a point to go back each time I 'm in Chicago!
