Abuelo's Mexican - Chesapeake

This place is amazing! My staff I train for a week went twice a day! The most friendly place where we still(a lot of places here do not feel friendly) all of the hostess(day night shift) plus the servers (also the one training) were fantastic! We even have to meet the guy who runs the show that was so friendly. The food is so so soooo good!!! Great portions, delicious chips and salsa and great drinks!! If we ever come back to Chesapeake, we will definitely get our way back to Abuelo’s!

The best food, drinks and service and super clean. We go about once a month and we were never disappointed. We've been engaged there 9 years ago. I left my phone last time and my husband got a friendly call that it was there! I love Abuelo's! 12/21/21

The ambiance and service was good but the food was nothing to write home about. The salsa was a little too runny for my liking and the chicken for my fajitas was not seasoned that well. Gave 3 stars because the food wasn’t nasty by any means just needed a little seasoning and we would be good to go.

For such a big Mexican restaurant and with beautiful décor, this place really misses the spot. The service is rude, the prices are way to pricey, and the quality of the food is tasteless and seemingly microwaved and/or reheated. I usually leave long reviews raving about how great a restaurant is or what it isn’t, this one misses the mark so badly that I do not even want to waste my time. Best thing about this is location and the décor both indoors and outdoors. I suggest skipping this one and heading to the nearest Azteca or even Taco Bell.

Wouldn't have asked for a better experience or quiet food. Service was A. I ordered the fajita salad with shrimps w/ the honey lime dressing. The shrimps were a joy, cooked for perfection. I asked for him in the slightly fried tortilla dish, and I dare to say. delicate bowl I ever had in a Mexican restaurant. Unpromptly the manager came by to ask us how our meal was. He was super friendly. These Virginia beach lovers will definitely get trekking to Chesapeake more often!
