What a brilliant night!! Live music was awesome and such a great atmosphere. Service was great even with the amount of people in, staff looked to be enjoying themselves. Couldn’t have asked for a better night. Will definitely be back.
Ember Inns pub set in the centre of Kidlington. The thing about chain pubs is you always know what to expect: decent food, reasonably priced and efficient service. On the other hand, they lack the flair and individuality that you will only ever find in an independently run pub. The best chain pubs will never be as good as the best independent pubs but the worst independent pubs can be far worse than any chain pubs. You pay your money and you take your choice. The Red Lion is a fairly modern building (seventies?? and internally it 's nicely laid out without being too formal. There 's a better than average selection of well kept ales on the bar, some from smaller breweries, although not necessarily local. Food is reasonably priced from an extensive menu which has something for everyone. I opted for what they call Posh Fish Chips which is basically two fillets of sea bass, but served in batter like you would normally serve standard cod chips. Yes, this definitely works; I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and at £12.99, you can 't complain about the price. The one small niggle with it was the miniscule portion of mushy peas served with it there couldn 't have been much more than about a dozen peas gone into the making of this. They do a pretty decent Sticky Toffee Pudding too, keenly priced at just £4.99. The pub also hosts occasional live music.
