Dean Farm Trust - Chepstow

We had a guided tour around all the living houses with a detailed talk about the animals. the leader was very informative. the animals were very well maintained. I have never seen so clean!

Wow today to disappoint the rains, the turn in dean farm trust open day was fantastic! there were over 13 rows of 20 cars when we were away at 14:30. we arrived at 10:45 a.m. and had to wait until 11:15 in the cars before we were allowed to go in. until then there were already 3 car series. each car had about 3 people in average. it came in more than we went. I'm sure there were 1000 people today. so glad that we just went for pizza and vic’s cookies and cake when we came back from looking for all animals, there was a huge snake at pizza and vic sold their 200 cupcakes, 6 cakes and 100 biscuits. it was a big event for the animals. there were eating stalls and stalls. viva vegan stall. all on a holy place that had real animals that were all saved to be slaughtered. it was amazing. I've never seen a sheep run to men, but eric and april were so kind. they licked eating from my hand. I had a bit of fear before the first, but they were so gentle. also the ponies had come to us nicely and I fed them grazily, which was frightening for me when I feared that they would bite my fingers. but I did it. so many different types of swarms. some small and short other huge and big. not sure what kind the mother was, the 5 ferkel was born, but they were kind to me when I asked. they didn't care they were touched. some of the other pigs run together while muddy flew everywhere. the turkey has never seen a truthahn before. all animals had so much space. so much space to run. they are so well looked around here, everyone has a name and a personality that the personal knows. we saw some beautiful cows on the border that looked at us, and one of the trustees told us they were on the way to be slaughtered. how sad. I think it was a fantastic idea not only to bring money to the trust, but to make people more aware that the best place for a vegan festival is on a sacred. great work with it!

We were given a guided tour of all the resident's homes along with a detailed discussion about the animals. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and the animals were clearly well taken care of. I have never seen such clean sheep before!

More cars were arriving as we were leaving, too. I'm quite sure there were at least 1000 people today. I'm so glad we went straight for the pizza and Vic's cookies and cakes, as by the time we came back from looking at all the animals, there was a huge queue at Pizza and Vic had sold out of her 200 cupcakes, 6 cakes, and 100 cookies. It was a great event for the animals. There were food stalls and merchandise stalls, including a Viva Vegan stall. All of this was on a sanctuary that housed real animals that were all rescued from being slaughtered. It was amazing. I had never seen a sheep run towards people before, but Eric and April were so friendly. They licked food from my hand. I was a bit scared at first, but they were so gentle. The ponies were lovely too, coming towards us to eat grass, which was a bit scary for me as I was afraid they would bite my fingers, but I did it. There were so many different types of pigs - some small and short, others huge and tall. I'm not sure what type the mom who gave birth to 5 piglets was, but they were all friendly too, one came towards me when I called. They didn't mind being touched. I saw some of the other pigs running around with each other, kicking up mud everywhere. I had never seen a turkey before. All of the animals had so much space to run around; they are so well-looked after here, each one has a name and a personality that the staff knows. We saw some beautiful cows on the adjacent property looking at us, and one of the Trustees told us they were on the way to be slaughtered. How sad. I think it was a fantastic idea not only to raise funds for the Trust, but to also raise awareness that the best place for a Vegan Festival is on a sanctuary. Great work with that!
