Bidrage med feedbackWe were a bit unsure about it when we got here but the instructions about what to do were spot on. We did exactly as said, we left the 5 yuan per person on the table after we were seated with our two bowls per person, one for the rice and the other for the vegetables. There was a ceremonial singing before the food was served. They served the nuns first and we all had to remain silent during the meal. The food was no frills but you get a lot of it for what you pay. The overall experience makes it all worth it.
I Love this place, the food and the Atmosphere. If life didn 't get in the way I would come daily for lunch, the only meal served to the public. The food is totally Vegan, healthy, wholesome, balanced, varied, very tasty and cheaper than what it would cost to make the food at home, 5 RMB (80 cents). Right from the striking of the Fish Gong and Chimes out front at just before 11:40 through the non talking meal to the cleaning and replacing of the bowls and chopsticks one used this was a delightful meal and experience. It is a shame more people don 't know of this Temple as I find it more Artistic then the more crowded Wenshu Monastery 2 1/2 blocks away. Then again, maybe it is much better this way. Do yourself a favor and get here by 11:30 to have lunch and then enjoy the walk through the Wenshu area to the Monastery
When I read about this place first, I felt really skeptical. but when I came to chengdu, I wanted an adventurous and here it is. I came here an hour earlier, so I went to the cuddle. it felt really old and old. I arrive at the nocturnal time and began to follow the directions and the locals. I met a Spanish guy there and two other westerners. we have set 5 ¥ before us and waited. before and after the meal there was something to sing. I have a bowl of rice, a white flour bunker, a few sweet dishes and a wide bon soup. it did not look appetizing when they served it, but it tasted delicious!
I was there twice when I was in chengdu. the first time, some friendly locals showed me how it works. I was the only foreigner, but also many locals were there, and the second time I had to buy a voucher right next to the dining room. instead of the geld I placed this before me during lunch and it was collected by one of the nuns. eating is good and much.
