Bidrage med feedbackFreshly fried chicken is always delicious. Yes, you heard me right, visit this restaurant and indulge in some freshly fried chicken. Perhaps the late timing of our visit contributed to our enjoyment as well. My mother, my brother, and I were there for a late dinner, most likely because I had to stay back at work. This tends to happen at my workplace. I found myself in the mood of Japanese businessmen who work late hours and crave beer and fried foods. Gallus Gallus hit the spot perfectly. We ordered original fried chicken, spicy garlic fried chicken, and Korean seafood pancake, accompanied by some Hite beer. For those who believe that KFC and Korean Fried Chicken are the same, they are mistaken. Korean Fried Chicken surpasses Kentucky Fried Chicken by far. Perhaps it's the passion for cooking that they talk about on Masterchef. Everything was superior - the batter was thinner and the meat was moist without being greasy. Even the drinks were superior. KFC and McDonald's should consider serving alcohol like American burger joints do. Personally, I preferred the original flavor - crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, with a hint of saltiness. The marinade on the spicy chicken was a bit overwhelming for my taste, but I still enjoyed it. I will definitely return.
The narrow shopfront opens to a larger seating area behind the shop. Naturally, we started with some fried chicken - original and garlic & soy. I preferred the garlic & soy as there was more flavour. We also ordered the CIY chicken, a hot plate of chicken pieces, cabbage, kim chi and spicy gochujang sauce to be cooked at the table. Pieces of chewy rice cakes added texture and you can ask for the special purple rice with nori to add to the hot pan. Unfortunately, Gallus Gallus don't offer side dishes.
It's been around for years and I have never bothered to go in as there was nothing that really intrigued me. Anyway, after a good night drinking a friend urged me to try them out. What better food to have than fried chicken after drinking. The menu specialised in Korean Fried Chicken and there were different selections of sauces and seasonings to go with it. Being a Korean restaurant, there were also your standard fare on the menu. We ordered one of the set menus being a whole fried chicken and two cans of beer for $36. For the flavours we chose the original and soy. The fried chicken was chopped up and coated in a light batte coming out very crispy and all the pieces retained a moist flesh. The dish came with a side of cabbage salad and pickled radish.
Furthermore, Gallus Gallus offers a wide selection of fried chicken and alcoholic drinks, making it a great place to hang out with friends. I recommend trying the scallion topped fried chicken, known as pa dak. The chicken is incredibly crispy and juicy, with the scallions adding a fresh and flavorful touch. Pair it with a glass of Korean draft beer or some soju for the full experience.
Cozy restaurant and great local place for chicken and beer with a few friends. Definitely not the best chicken around (all their chicken is frozen) but still pretty decent. I would actually say it's been the best fried chicken in Chatswood area. Good choices are the spicy chicken and the wings, and the dak galbi is okay.
