Bidrage med feedbackWe visited Cafe 147 as a family for lunch in August 2016. This was the 5th time I'd been to 147 and they usually do a pretty good job. My work also gets catering from them on a semi-regular basis and they always knock that out of the park. However, on this particular occasion I was really let down. FOOD: 3/10Out of all the times I'd been there, this was the worst. We ordered a chicken schnitzel roll and a lamb pattie burger. The buns were the cheapest looking and tasting buns I've ever been served in a cafe (like the $2 six pack you get from Coles). A brioche or something similar would have been preferred. The schnitzel's crumb coating was soggy and falling off. It didn't look golden at all. The lamb pattie was so mushy and soft, it flattened to a pulp when the burger was squeezed, causing it to leak out of the sides an onto the plate. It was like eating baby food. Overall, both dishes were a massive let down and when they were served they looked like they had been put together by a child, i.e. the presentation was so basic... nothing like what'd you expect at a veteran cafe.COFFEE: 6.5/10With all the amazing coffee available now in Charlestown, if you serve coffee you really need to step up your game. With B-Side around the corner and Playing the Goat within a 5 min walking distance... 147 can't cut it with average coffee anymore... and that's just what they serve. Average, passable and sufficient coffee that will do the job, but you'd hardly go there just for it alone.VENUE
This was a Sunday breakfast for my breakfast club social group. We are a group who meet for brekky once a month in a different location each month. This month we tried Cafe 147. I had booked in person 3 weeks ahead
Both my wife and i have experienced poor service and average coffee at this location, when you do mention to them that the coffee is not great the manager does not respond well to the feedback. A good tip take the feedback on board and fix the issue
A very friendly, healthy place to eat with great coffee. Always ate at Cafe 147 when they were at Market Town, then they disappeared. Was thrilled when I found them at Charlestown. The food and coffee are always great. With gluten and lactose problems in the family it is such a pleasure to know we have somewhere to go, relax and enjoy our food. Thanks guys :-))))
Fantastic gluten free. It does not rely on sugar to make up for the lack of gluten and feels, looks and tastes like what my baker grandfather used to make. This is not Gluten free that is new age hipster food pretending. THis is real food - gluten free. A must drop in for any cealiac visiting Newcastle. Service is great and the place has a clean happy cafe vibe. The coffee is good as well!
