Bidrage med feedbackFood is excellent. One of the few nice restaurants with vegetarian entrees that are filling and satisfying. Expensive cocktails. Been twice and not many people seem to have discovered this gem. As a result you can hear each other talk. Probably a good date place for that reason.
Everything about our Scarecrow experience was right! The ambiance is perfect for a cozy dinner, and they have great cocktails and wine to choose from. Our server helped us navigate the menu, and we couldn 't have been happier with our choices. The scallops, sausage, and cabbage are all excellent. The sweet potatoes, however, totally steal the show. If you eat nothing else, get these sweet potatoes! Double baked, with farm cheese and portabella bacon , we would go back just for this! Great food, great service, great place all around.
From the incredibly creative cocktail menu to the service, decor and entire culinary experience....this place NAILED it. It's tough in Charleston to find a restaurant that really floors you across the board because there are so many fantastic choices. But Scarecrow was simply exceptional. Hidden on Ann St off the main drag of King, you walk into what feels like a cozy comfortable kitchen with vaulted ceilings, dark woods and tanned leather with the exposed fire and kitchen dominating the space. Everything about the first impression says this meal is going to be something to remember. Creativity is paramount at this place, while the directness of each dish makes you excited for the next course. We started with their take on pimento cheese with some blistered peppers....mouth watering. I had the NY Strip...cooked to perfection. My fiancé had the grouper....flawless. And the presentation of each dish was nothing short of pure artwork. A part of me wants this to remain a secret because I don't want to share this experience with everyone, but at the same time this is a place that needs to be shared and rivals some of the Charleston greats. Go. Eat. Drink. Spread the word. Scarecrow is here to stay.
Have eaten at Scarecrow numerous times. It is my favorite restaurant in Charleston and I have eaten it almost all of them. This service the wait staff is fantastic the ambience is over the top and they're accommodating for anything you asked them for if you don't know much about wine like myself you can have Constantine is one of the owners take care of that for you. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone thank you happy dining sincerely Bruce
Creative, creative, creative...the food was creative and unique. Tasty too, I should add. In the creativity, which was welcome by the way, the flavors didn 't entirely resonate with our group. Not at all to say it was bad, because it wasn 't, some items were just, well, different. The duck breast was quite good, although perhaps mixing it with blueberries and chantarelles was a little too unique for my palate. My daughter loved hers though! The pork chop was to die for, and far more food than I could finish. The duck skewer appetizer surprised me an awful lot in my mouth, as it turned out to be gizzards and hearts, with some hefty lime juice. I didn 't know it was the bits when I ordered it, and (sorry) can 't recommend that one. The sides of rice with poached egg on top and green beans were among the best I 've ever had. My son got the spare rib and positively devoured it, without sharing...I 'm gonna call that one a win. We had a few glasses of really nice wine a French white and a Spanish rose, and both were delightful choices to discover on the 'by the glass ' list. Neat place, with lots of wood and a nod in the direction of steampunk without being overbearing at all. I would go back, for sure!
