Peking Gourmet - Charleston

This place has gotten really bad over the years and extremely chincy. you would think when a place raises their prices, that they would never consider lowering the quality of the food or reducing the portions…..well think again……This place used to be one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area because they seemed like they cared about quality.. for instance they used to Handroll their dumplings now they just use cheap tasteless premade ones. Instead of giving a normal, full-sized eggrolls they give these little dinky spring roll sized eggrolls.tonight my combination dinner was 80% rice with a pitiful potion of the entrée put on top. Worst part was the rice has no veggies nor any flavor at all!!!!i’m telling you this place has gotten really really bad.I ordered a quart of wonton soup and they gave me only one pack of the fried wonton chips. You would think If they give one pack with a pint that they would give two packs with a quart right?wrong…… and I know it wasn’t just an honest mistake. The guy that did it is the same guy that has worked there the entire time the place has been opened. they used to always give two packs with a quart so I know this guy is not an idiot he’s just doing everything he can to be a cheapskate..It’s almost embarrassing how cheap they try to be these days. All that tells me is they don’t care about the customer or what we are paying for. it’s almost as if they take zero pride, and what they do….. Anyhow, considering the quality has plummeted this far downhill on top of all their cheap sleazy methods of cutting cost. They have lost me as a loyal customer for sure.I don’t even want to think about going to this place anymore. I used to go here alot because it was very convenient for me , although these days i feel like it’s so worth it to drive the extra mile or two just to go to a different place that actually cares about their reputation.So I don’t feel like I threw my money in the garbage can…..

Ordered hibachi, wouldn’t call it hibachi. Actually tasted a lot of bbq sauce? Rice was good.

Not Peking. It is El Mercadito next door Google! It was delicious, and quick, with great service.

Very convenient, placed an order and went next door, meals were ready in 10 minutes. Very good and tasty. Had steak with peppers, onions and a large shrimp fried rice. They are generous with the shrimp, maybe because that's the only thing that is in the rice. Shrimp and rice, no veggies or egg. Next time I will request the aforementioned additions since I will be dining with them again.

Hibachi chicken was delicious. This place is under rated imo
