Bidrage med feedbackWe read the reviews and had to try it. She had the WV dog with chili and slaw. Good sized dog and tasty, she said. I had the beef brisket with both mild and spicy BBQ sauce. She had the homemade potato salad (very good). I had the sweet potato caserole.....it was different but tasty. And, I had the spicy cabbage...good! Brianna was our server and she was attentive and helped with our choices. While waiting for our food we discussed that we take dance lessons nearby, so we practiced dancing a little. Nice casual placed with fresh, good, homemade food. Try it! Prices and parking are good.
The top choice in West Virginia for Food Wine's David Landsel, Luke Gralia at Eat This, Not That as well as The Travel Channel. Kelli Acciardo at the Food Network hails it as one of the country's top 45. Perhaps because we came here with high expectations, we left somewhat disappointed. We opted to share a two meat (ribs, brisket), two side (collard greens, sweet potato casserole) platter. We added an extra side of fries and two refillable soft drinks, bringing the bill to $31.40 plus tip (the service was very good). The brisket, which came as an assortment of pieces, had a classic central Texas salt-pepper rub, but it was tilted very, very strongly to the salty side, and so dry that we could not salvage it. The three meaty ribs, in contrast, were well prepared in the sense of having a good bite while separating cleanly from the bone, but we found them curiously bland. We managed to give them flavor by combining the two sauces on the table, and pouring it on. The greens and sweet potato casserole were also neutral the greens not overwhelmed with vinegar, and the sweet potatoes not drowning in brown sugar. We enjoyed them both, and likewise the fries. So, this was one of those rare BBQ stops where the sides were on point, but the meats left much to be desired. We would file this one away as a restaurant worth visiting if you happen to be in the neighborhood and hungry for cue, but it is not what we would consider a destination restaurant.
The smoke on the pork and brisket were delicious! Great place to eat!
I have eaten BBQ from all this country and when my kids had a dance competitions in Charleston I was looking for places that served BBQ. WE decided to try this place out and boy oh boy was it good. Good enough we went back the following weekend almost a hour drive just to eat there again and the second time was just as good.
Wonderful atmosphere, amazing service and the BEST BBQ in all of Charleston! Definitely stop by and try their brisket, baked beans, and Cole slaw. All some of the best BBQ I've ever had! Our bartender and the host were also super fantastic and had a good time joking and laughing with us!
