Don Juan's Palapa - Chapala

One of the friendliest places to go and enjoy yourself. Casual and a great selection on the menu! We go there twice a week and will continue to tell our friends about the place.

Yesterday I had Eggs Benedict. I didn't want to eat bread. Chef Rubén made beautiful hash browns instead. AWESOME. If you thought Delicias used to be good. This is over the top.

This is a new place just before the park when you drive along the Malecon. This is the BEST breakfast restaurant Lakeside. It is under new ownership. Reuben makes amazing food and will accommodate requests. Try the Eggs Benedict on hash browns instead of a muffin...to die for! The omelet "stew" is named that because it looks like a normal omelet, but had so many ingredients chopped and mixed in it, it is outrageous. The view of the lake makes you feel like you are an vacation. So glad this place is here, makes the trip from Ajijic more than worth it. Open 8-1:00 and plenty of parking

Don Juan's Palapa is a brand new venture, opening on Friday, February 26th. There is a sign as well as a single Tripadvisor review for "La Palapa de Don Juan" but rest assured, this is a very different place! Where to begin? The restaurant is driven by the vision of young Chef Ruben Olivares who seems determined to make a big name for himself in the Lakeside culinary scene! One would normally associate this type of brilliant chef-ery with a dinner place, but hey, why can't breakfast and lunch be stunning? Start with the coffee (crack in a cup) then move along to the enfrijoladas. Tender, fresh tortillas folded over your choice of delicious fillings then smothered in a creamy frijole sauce unlike anything I've tasted, anywhere, ever! I won't bore you with more gushing, but suffice it to say the food, service, atmosphere and prices will ensure you a wonderful experience! Saludos!
