Bidrage med feedbackThis restaurant is in the main square in the old town centre. It was fascinating to eat outside watching the world go by whilst enjoying an excellent pizza. The young waiter serving couldn't have been more attentive and made us feel very welcome.
We were looking for a place to lunch and we found this restaurant very close to the city hall. Simple with a good menu and friendly staff. Spacious and airy environment. The pasta carbonara was tasteful. Good price.
At the recommendation of our private tour guide, we ate lunch in the restaurant of this hotel following a morning exploring the nearby Etruscan necropolis and National Musem (both parts of a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The place was not quite open, but we were welcomed into their Grand Salon with sweeping views that complemented the beautiful decor and were made a wonderful lunch. Our appetizers, salads and pasta dishes were delicious and just what we needed before moving on to an afternoon of more exploration in the related UNESCO designated Etruscan sites at Tarquinia. We had a sense that the restaurant was not yet open (and we had the Grand Salon all to ourselves till shortly before we left, when a second couple was seated). But we did not realize till much later that this was a hotel restaurant. To us it was simply an elegant restaurant with a great menu and an extraordinary chef. We also did not realize till later that the man who welcomed and seated us was the owner! We felt well taken care of, and the kindness of the owner speaks well of the place.
The room was ok, but... breakfast became every day more and more a horror and a continuous irritation. It felt like a struggle with te man who served. And what was our breakfast: two biscuits, four gelly jam little cups... and a croissant. If you are the whole day in the woods and necropoles, then you cannot live on biscuits! We had to beg for coffee, which was every cup different. Then begging for another cup, then we begged for bread. What a horrible mistake: dry, old, not chewable. The man was slow, and disappeared, so we had to wait or search. Then begging for fruitjuice... Every glass was one too much for him. And when we were one day later for breakfast, he disappeared, smiling and waving goodbye .. So we had to wait for another one to come. Then we had to beg for cheese and ham: we received one slice of 5 by 5 cm, tastless and the ham was bacon, more fat than meat. And we got from nobody there a feelgood: saying hello, or goodmorning: nothing! We felt like we were too much in the restaurant. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening, but we sat in stead on a terrace on the opposite side I write this because we were on holiday and you cannot believe this treatment. I hope the people there read this because they didn't even ask how our stay was, nor did they say goodbye, or welcome back.
Nice restaurant on the piazza, so refreshing to sit on the terrace on the evening when it gets cooler and lively with local families hanging out. Excellent classical Italian food, friendly and helpful service. If you like wines, go for the Greco di Tufo (white) or the Nero da Vola (red). Too bad they were out of the home made limoncello, Try it of you get the chance. Buon appetito !
