Bidrage med feedbackWe stopped for lunch in Ceprano on our way from Rome to Sorrento and used the GPS plus Trip Advisor to find a local restaurant. The day was rainy and miserable, but we still had a wonderful time and fantastic small meal at Federici. In the middle of winter you are not going to come here for the people watching on the piazza, but it still is a charming space with excellent food and attentive staff, who were lovely people and most accommodating of our not speaking Italian. We had the Gnocchi Cacio de Pepe and a salad plus a couple of glasses of the local red wine. Finish it all off with a couple of cappuccini and we were happy campers. We would definitely stop again if we were in the area.
The restaurant is very nice, great hamburgers, and has been there a long time, the owner, Mare, speaks English and is very gracious. Wait staff is cordial and the have a delicious bakery too.

My husband and i wee travelling towards Rome when we decided to stop for a quick drink at half way to our destination we drove off the motorway and after around 5 minutes arrived at a small village called Ceprano. We asked in the village where we could get a decent meal if we wanted to eat instead of just take a coffe pause and a young man indicated Bar Ristorant Federici. I was dubious as the bar area was not very busy but asked for the the menue when i then saw the selection of local food and wine i was willing to take the chance. We entered the dining area which was full at a time when usually lunch is winding down. We sat down and waited for the server who immediately came to our table and offered advice on food and wine. She understood straight away that we wanted to taste local dishes and also that certain things were not adapt for me as i am gluten intollerant. We ordered a beautiful antipasto for one which was sufficient for two we also ordered a delicious fresh porcini mushroom salad which was absolutely to die for. She bought to our attention a great local red wine delicious and gave us a free jar ow water!! My husband had a typical spagettia alla carbonara i had her choice of dish of the day which was a soup made usually from harricot beans, fresh broccoli, pumpkin and it sits on a slice of toasted bread. She made up an order of this dish with no beans and no bread and believe me it was worth the extra wait as it was made fresh for me. Absolutely delicous covered with o km grated goats cheese. my husband and broccoli and a fantastically lean plate of sliced home mande beef sausages and i had a sliced beef steak with a huge side salad we were offered coffe, liquors and my husband had a house made tiramisu not made with biscuits or lady fingers but with a beautiful cocoa based sponge he was even offered dry almond biscuits as believe me, he went for the offer like a bull to a red flag!! I loved this experience as we chatted to the owners after our meal they are courteous knowledgeable about food and believe in their local produce i would return again and again if i made the trip to rome often enough but am sure that my next stop will be just as delicious even six months down the road!! by the way the bill was the real fix of the day 60 euros!! Please stop by this place as they work hard at getting it right, and the food is cooked just as you want it, packed with flavour and traditionally made. Thank you all for a great meal, Rita and Gennaro, Avellino
