Lizard's Thicket - Cayce

The quality of food is never a problem. It's good. This is a place for week night. But... there are about THIRTY tables and there were only two waitresses at MANY weekend visits. When we were there, it was at 6:30. They had a part of about 10 tables closed. There were customers at about 7-8 tables. There was a clean table for us to sit down. All the time we were there, none of the two teenage waiters cleaned out a single table that had stacks of plates and glasses as if the customers just left them. We have seen this too often so that it is tortured to a sick person. Even with the lack of customers, I had to go to the front counter to ask for a side part that I ordered, but not get. Our waitress came through twice after we brought our food (to other tables) but never looked at our way, so I couldn't ask them to my product. We go back on weekdays because we enjoy the food and usually also the service.

Wait in the drive-thru for 10 minutes before the confirmation. He said go ahead with your order. I said my order. He didn't confirm my order. I said hello, hello, you got my order. Ten minutes. I'll beat my horn, not yet recognition. A few minutes later, he told me I went on with my order. I once again said my order and this time he plays games as if he couldn't hear me. So I move into the window, he asked me again what was my order, repeated my order, he then asked the cook, I guess when they told Chili they did. I ordered a big chili with two corn breads. He gives me my order and says we only have a corn bread. I got a vegetable soup, two cornbreads and two rolls. The young gentleman who worked the drive thru and in the window had no customer service at all.

I've eaten here for at least a decade and I've always loved it. You must have hired a new cook because every piece I got was terrible. Country roasted steak was hard and dry, not to mention half the share I usually get. The Mac and Cheese had a kind of new mucose and tasted rancid. The Squash-Casserole literally tasted fishy. I think I'll eat somewhere else.

Oh my the breakfast here is completely delicious!!! Ms. April was our waitress and she was great! I had the sampler, the sausage patty, bacon and the best country ham I had in a while! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to smile on your stomach!

During our trip to South Carolina we decided to try this restaurant out. Great selection of country foods at a very good price. I actually let the waitress pick her favorites for me and I was not disappointed. I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, Mac n cheese and yams.. all was fast hot and delicious. Wife had the smoked with cabbage and Mac n cheese. Definitely worth the trip and recommend it to anyone who passes through.
