Bidrage med feedbackAwesome place for a spa day!! My friend booked this place after our Istanbul holiday as a sort of treat! We drive up two hours from Dublin on a rainy afternoon. Checked in around 2pm, then hit the spa! Our treatments weren't until 5 but we hit up the pool, saunas and other cool amenities. The hotel is super nice, staff is super duper friendly! Our package includes a 30 minute spa treatment plus 3 course dinner for 150 euro, which was pretty good. My scrub/massage was awesome, felt refreshed! Dinner was delicious! Rooms were very nice and the buffet breakfast the next morning was bomb! If you get a chance, take a walk around the grounds. Overall a great little get a way spot to relax and get pampered!
Impressive setting, but fails on the small details; staff are polite and enthusiastic but appear to be not fully trained; resulting service is slow. Food is indifferent; menu gives the appearance of variety and flavour, but food fails to fulfil... needed to be sent back for reheating. Menu itself is grubby and worn. Hotel is structurally modern and quiet, but small details indicate a facility manager is sorely needed: dirty windows, grimy rusting surfaces outside dining room, exposed cables in corridor where light fitting was never installed, dimmer knobs missing from light switch in room, old tv with poor quality picture and channel selection. No air con, just a plug in fan in wardrobe. Window badly needed oiling to allow opening for heat relief. Poor internet speed. Unusually high number of CCTV cams in corridors... Overall, has potential but needs a lot of investment to attract a second visit. Externally, clean paint. Internally, train pay staff to motivate better service. For such a newly built hotel not to have aircon in guestrooms is shortsighted design.
With fantastic midweek offers, it's hard to resist going to Farnham Estate. The hotel is a large modern building attached to a refurbished old Manor type house. There is lots of land to roam around and explore including a huge golf course. The rooms are spacious and have lovely bathrooms with a shower and a bath. Free wifi in the rooms, a fridge, hairdryer etc and even robes and slippers! There's an indoor and outdoor pool with loungers with comfy pillows if you want to relax by the pool and read a book. There's also steam rooms of various temperatures, foot spas and nice showers. On a quiet day you can really lap up the peace and serenity, drink unlimited amounts of tea, coffee and juices and just relax. I had a Swedish back and shoulder massage from the Beauty Salon. It was amazing! They even have a hair salon! You really don't need to leave the hotel over your stay as there are plenty of options to eat. The Botanic restaurant or the Cellar Bar (or room service) have got plenty of choice on their menus. It all comes from the same kitchen anyway. I was so impressed with the buffet breakfast. So much to choose from! Probably the biggest buffet breakfast I have ever seen in a hotel. Fried, scrambled and boiled eggs to choose from! The staff are very helpful and friendly too. I couldn't have asked for more. I really enjoyed my stays here (3 times in 2 years) I recommend it highly and I know I'll go back again.
This is a great place to retreat with your favorite (like a GF, BF or BFF). It is not for the weak wallet or untested, but it does provide you one hella sleep. Be sure to bring your hiking boots or running shoes, so you can go cross-estate on the tracks behind the golf course. It is well worth a few hours outside to check out the different routes and take in the scenery. If you are half decent with a camera you might as well take a few shoots to show off on Facebook and make all you friends jelly. You can also pamper yourself or a group of friends in the mint-steam spa resort. Complementary access comes with a stay, but any massage or fancy treatments will come out of your pocket at a price. The restaurant offers your amazing food and whether your for beer, cocktails, mock-tails or wine they will have something to suit your taste buds. It can get quite busy when there is no wedding in house, because other couples will spend their time here as well. So be sure to book in advance of your stay or your spouse might be cheated of an worthy experience.
Apparently the biggest country house estate in Ireland certainly lives up to its name. It takes about 5 minutes to drive from the gate to the hotel! Check in was very efficient and the room was lovely, looking out into the countryside and spa. We managed to sneak in an hour in the pool and steam rooms the former included an indoor and outdoor heated infinity pool area looking out to the rolling hills of Cavan with a hint of cow poo in the air. Can't get any more Irish than that! Both the Botanica Restaurant and Wine Goose Cellar Bar were lovely, serving very good food and drink although prices are on the steep side. All in all a very pleasant stay :
