A lovely cafe serving a huge variety of cakes and coffees. Lunchtime snacks are varied and tasty. Our favourite morning coffee stop.
Amazing small tavern that takes them away from the tourist ambiente of the city. the big lances that could keep the place look a bit tune, but are amazing hostess and the portions are huge! we had bakalau (incredible size) and white fish. try them. also the tomatensalat! we were very happy with our decisions!
Lay a simple position on the corner with seat inside and outside. we thought we were late lunch in the february, sitting outside in a shadow over the grill, what we thought was not in use. it was clear that the sardines we ordered were cooked right in front of us and served directly to the table. really good not usually my first choice, but so cooked, not to miss. the owners did not speak English and we did not speak any Portuguese, but service and attention were excellent.
We almost went past the tiny, vine-covered courtyard, as we went back from the fortification towards old town. but safe enough it was a small cafe bar that seemed to have forgotten time. they run from an older couple who only spoke. portugiesen was a delightful relief from the more modern restaurants, pubs and bars with their firuiker and multilingual menus. with great geduld our hostess helped us in order and we were not disappointed by our very generous serving of wood charcoal bbq’d fresh sardines (boiled in the hof by our host), salat and local bottle white. we relaxed in filtered sunlight. some other traveling followed our tour and were also enchanted by our picturesque but unpredictable environment. not star, but a real look at an earlier period in this beautiful old fishing town
