Il Fornaio Carmel

My wife and I attended a wedding reception here and wanted to shout out a specific employee. We have an 18 month old girl who did not want to eat any of the dinner we ordered and I asked Jacqueline if I was able to get some fruit for her. She said she would go and ask around. She returned with a bowl of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and an orange all washed. Our child only ate the strawberries and asked for more, so I went to find Jacqueline and ask if she had any more and she went to get more and all with a pleasant attitude. After she helped us out with our kid's food situation she then pulled out a little toy and gave it to our girl who was thrilled and took it. We found out that she used to work with kids and carries small toys to give out. Jacqueline was extremely nice and went, in my opinion, above and beyond in her work duties that night. She really saved the day, if it was not for Jacqueline we might have had to leave early or shop around a local grocery store to feed our girl. Thank you so much!!! :

This place is very lovely! The entry way into the pine inn was beautiful! Their happy hour menu was delicious. Had their stuffed squash blossoms and one of their pizzas and it was so good I still day dream about it. Can't wait to go back for dinner. Service was excellent!

So funny story, there is two il fornaio’s in Carmel and I had made reservations for this place but accidentally went to their second location. The experience was super lovely! My boyfriend and I were celebrating our one year and the waiter actually gave us celebratory champagne which was suuuuper yummy. I had gotten the delicious fish special and my boyfriend got the three meat pasta which he really enjoyed. If that place was good I can not wait to try this correct location

We had an afternoon reservation when it was not busy we were initially the only group in the entire restaurant. From the hostess who seated us to the waiter who took our order, the servers were extremely rude. They didn't refill our waters or check in on us once the entire meal. I would not recommend this spot for that reason alone. As for the food, we ordered the lasagna ferrarese $27), mezzalune di zucca $25), and cristina pizza $22). You can see the portions in the pictures below. The pizza was okay in terms of size, but there were only 6 pieces of ravioli! The price was definitely not worth it. The quality of the food was okay, but poor service ruined the experience. They also have a 3% restaurant adversity surcharge.

I don't usually do negative reviews, but I want to spare others. The food was horrible! And I'm pretty tolerant and easy to please. 1 person out of 12 people in my party actually enjoyed the food. They get two stars only because the servers and the hostess were really nice and attentive.
