Bidrage med feedbackLast spring, for Maine 's First Annual Restaurant Week (2009 , Sea Glass was at the top of our list of Portland area places to check out. New to Maine, we had no idea what to expect but were excited to travel to beautiful Cape Elizabeth for a nearby, lovely dinner at the beach. Sea Glass did not disappoint! There is a nice roaring fireplace in the small bar/lounge across the main dining room. Dark wood trim white linen tables compliment the large glass windows in the small but cozy intimate dining room, affording water views in the pre sunset hours. Because of space, reservations are recommended. For dinner, we enjoyed the creamy lobster bisque (have not found better! , jumbo seared sea scallop over fennel salad, hearty braised beef short ribs, seafood paella chocolate torte for dessert. Sea Glass also features an extensive wine list but leaves more to be desired of their unique, house made cocktails. Nothing special there go for the wine! This year 's Maine Restaurant Week brought us again! We enjoyed a pre dinner cocktail in the small lounge. Again, cocktails were not great. For example, one dirty martini came back clean obviously very strong. But there is plenty to try on the extensive wine list. For dinner, we chose from the main menu instead: tangy sautéed mushroom goats cheese tartlette, lobster bisque (creamy, butteryour favorite! , flanked steak frites, braised short rib 'bolognese ' gnocchi, chocolate ganache wafer warm, toffee pudding. Everything was absolutely delicious coming out hot timed perfectly from the kitchen (no rushing or long waits . The Chef came out toward the end of the meal to greet us. He was very handsome, professional kind. The waitstaff was attentive not distracting. It 's clear Chef Mitchell Kaldrovich brings a lot of experience to the kitchen born in Argentina having worked at several fine restaurants all over the US (West Hollywood, California Coral Gables, Florida . He is a true gem, serving palate pleasing, unique upscale cuisine in a rather unlikely place. His philosophy is to use local Maine ingredients while keeping it light fresh. As long as Chef Mitchell is at Sea Glass, I 'll be there!
Very good breakfasts in nice setting by friendly staff. Added attractions of lots of guests dogs at breakfast.
Sea Glass is one of our favorite restaurants! We live locally but we’re located inland, so when we want to escape to an ocean venue, this is our first choice for fine dining. Our diet is vegetarian and Chef Dave creates and prepares the most delicious and innovative dishes we’ve ever enjoyed-fresh, sumptuous and perfectly plated!! The windows overlook the gardens and the ocean in the distance; the dining room is spotless and the wait staff is exceedingly professional and polite, making the whole experience wonderful!
Really delicious food with an Argentinian flair in a pompous, over the top atmosphere for those that want to be like One-Percenters. What were WE doing there? Well, we'd been out to the beach, and our favorite restaurant was closed for some reason. So we looked in Google Maps, and this place was close. Kind felt like we were the Beverly Hillbillies walking in there. The food WAS outstanding, though, and I tried my best to not spit tobacco on the floor.
The hostess was lovely, and started the dining experience off well. Unfortunately that was the high point of the experience and things progressed downhill from that point. The food was middling to fine. The wait staff was non existent. Management dropped by overly frequently and had good intentions but missed the mark by a mile. Have a meal here if you are staying at the hotel but there are much better options in nearly every direction.
