Makcari's Coffee Lounge Ice Cream Parlour

The food at the Bandstand was awful. The chili hot dog tasted like it was microwaved from frozen and was hard, covered in a cold mess of con carne. I wasn't allowed a baguette, as the server said I had to have a panini because it was softer. I returned it and was offered a Mediterranean pizza with cheese and tomato, but no peppers, just smothered in olives. We also ordered two rolls, chips, and two soft drinks, which came to a total of £27. Never again.

The restaurant is very pricey. We paid £23.00 for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks. The coffee was quite weak. We were disappointed to see rat droppings on the bench tables and the overall cleanliness was lacking. This used to be a favorite spot of ours, but not anymore.

I ordered a child's sandwich and a tuna baguette, along with a J20 and a hot chocolate. The total came to £23, which I found to be quite expensive. My daughter was hungry, so I decided to stay and listen to the music at the bandstand. After waiting 40 minutes, we finally received our sandwiches, which were not even enjoyable. In my opinion, it was definitely not worth the price. I would recommend passing by and finding another restaurant instead.

We discovered Makcaris when we visited Herne Bay as tourists. The menu was comprehensive and covered the three of us well. I did find some of the food a little expensive £15 for fish and chips) but appreciate costs have gone up and it is a tourist destination. The staff were friendly and welcoming and one day we’d like to return to try out the amazing looking ice cream sundaes!

Spacious and airy cafe with friendly, efficient staff. The menu is deceptively simple but the sandwiches and wraps were fresh, tasty and generously filled.
