La Castagna - CANTAGALLO

We've been to this restaurant twice now the visits separated by several years as it's a favourite of some friends we know in Prato. The simple dining room affords lovely views across the Tuscan countryside. Service is friendly. The food is hearty and unashamedly meaty: my wild boar pasta was packed with flavour and we shared a plate of deep fried artichoke that was coated in remarkably crisp and dry batter. If you have a car it's well worth finding.

This restaurant is one of the most traditional ones in the Prato area. You can taste a lot of traditional dishes. The location is quite outside the city, you need the car to reach that but I can ensure you that the view you can see through the windows while you are eating is fantastic, awsome! The food is very good, explecially pasta and meat (I suggest to try the wild pig dish). Very low prices. Enjoy it!

This is a very typical Tuscan family restaurant in the countryside...the hills of Prato. We have been regulars over a number of years. Home cooking and delicious. Highly recommended for an outing in the country.

Not recommended to those who make the diet! we tasted mixed appetizers and the three of tortelli. all good and abundant. friendly and helpful staff. We'll be back. Good!
