Wasabiya Japanese Sushi Cafe

The sushi at this restaurant in Campbell River is top-notch. The food is always fresh and delicious. We try to visit as frequently as possible.

I had high expectations for this restaurant. It had good reviews and the hostess claimed it was the best sushi in Campbell River. I ordered the tuna sashimi, which was decent, but the beef in the yakisoba was very disappointing. The noodles resembled ramen noodles and the beef was tough and gristly, likely cut against the grain. Additionally, the beef had been overcooked in too much sauce, resulting in a boiled texture. To make matters worse, the specials menu featured oysters that were not actually available when I tried to order them. It was a letdown. I will be searching for a different sushi spot next time, or perhaps avoiding this place altogether.

I highly recommend the nigiri and cucumber rolls at this restaurant. The sushi is very tasty and the service is efficient.

Quite possibly the best Sushi experience I have had in BC. Nothing was ordinary! The Omakase Platter was incredible! So many new flavours from old favorites! Even the Tempura had surprises. Smoked Tuna Tataki was divine! I've found my new favorite Japanese restaurant in this little town. So good. Reserve a seat or you may never get in! It's that good!!
