Despite the impressive appearance, the quality of the food did not meet our expectations. The eggs benedict was decent, but comparable to what you would find at a Denny's or IHOP. This experience taught us not to judge a restaurant solely based on its exterior. While the ambiance was excellent, the food fell short.
We both had the same dish, mine was smaller and overcooked while the other one was perfect. I couldn't send it back as we were eating at different times. I always feel hesitant to complain but I should have spoken up. The wine was expensive but good. The service was okay, a bit inexperienced, but I know it can be hard to find good staff. They will improve with time. Please don't ask "how are we tonight?" as I can only speak for myself.
The view and atmosphere of the restaurant, as well as the prices, initially seemed promising for a pleasant dining experience. However, the reality was far from it. I ended up overpaying for a mediocre meal that left me disappointed.
The menu is just a bit above a pub menu. the steak I had was crunchy and hard. the seafood chowder tasted like a weak paste. the bright spot was the server near
I visited with a group. The first night of our stay we were too late for the restaurant so ate in the bar/sitting area. (the pub was closed). One friend had the prawns and loved them, another had the seafood chowder which was so good...she and another friend ordered it the next night in the restaurant. Unfortunately, the second night the chowder was cold even after being taken back to the kitchen for reheating. I'm celiac and there were very few gluten free options but they did make garlic toast from a gf bun to go with my caesar salad; yum. Other than the cold chowder everyone found their food to be satisfactory and the service was very friendly and accommodating but slow due to a shortage of staff. I would go back to try that chowder if they would just make it gluten free! The views were fantastic. We saw cruise ships sail past during our meal.
