Bidrage med feedbackWet paint in toilet. Suggestion to the girl behind the bar to put a sign up which she found amusing. Manager slightly better but no sign up when I left. Will not return to this lovely place.
After a 5 year pandemic lay off I was really looking forward to returning to this gem of Victoriana but boy did it disappoint! On a reasonably busy (all seats occupied) late Wednesday afternoon it was staffed by just one unhurried barman. Such was the frustrating wait for service, potential punters came and left. When the drink arrived I found the stout and lager to be of a decent standard but for the last round I opted for the Cask Bitter which was undrinkable and had evidently turned. When I alerted the barman to this he attempted to justify it by explaining the singular characteristics of Cask Beer which may cause it to taste differently and that maybe I got the end of the barrel. It was obvious to me he wasn't taking my complaint seriously particularly when he refused to change my substandard pint for an equivalent pint of something else. He further explained that their pub policy dictated that a half pint was the best I could hope for and that this was not open to debate. I am still astounded by his indifference to genuine customer dissatisfaction. Princess Louise should be the showpiece of Samuel Smith's London Pubs but it is clear to me that a) their recruitment and rostering is abysmal b) the standard of beer they serve is not a concern and c) their paying customers are low in their priorities. As we departed, the sight of my returned unfinished pint still remaining on the counter unmoved by the lethargic barman consolidated my decision never EVER to return!!
One of the most unique pubs! Excellent selection of beer. The little “rooms” at the bar were something I have never seen before. Friendly bar tenders.
Arrived around half 10 Saturday 30th April after a bit of a pub crawl based on the Liquid History book of London's best pubs and the Louise was in the book. Hardly any other customers. Certainly not drunk or loud but happy and polite. Were informed only do halves? OK two halves please, bell rang 22.45, two more halves please. Sorry bell that called time. Strange as a few minutes later bell went again, so were obviously lied to, two male staff just wanted to shut the place. Such a shame as all the other pubs on our two day trip were wonderfully welcoming. You'd think after Covid they'd want our business. Beautiful and unique pub though hence the two stars.
An ideal pub for those who are nervous around crowds! Individual cubicles (seating around 6 people) surround a central bar. Victoriana at its best!
