The Royal In Wash - Calumet-Norvelt

Great ambience and outdoor seating at the Royal. The servers are kind and competent. The chicken sandwich was good, but not great and I wasn’t a fan of the aioli. Have heard great things about the masa gnocchi and the drinks.

Cute place. Good food. I was able to find parking. Vibe is awesome!. Small local restaurant.

The Ajiaco is the best item on the menu! It’s simply too good to not enjoy every day of the year. My Colombian gf and I love it.

It’s unclear to me what people see in this place. I’ve now been 4 times, and while the food is sporadically good, the service is always quite bad. This morning we were sat at the bar, told we couldn’t order a drink on their menu because it took too long, received an extremely watered down americano, and eventually our last drink. No one ever came to speak to us again, so we were unable to order breakfast, and had to essentially wave our hands in front of their faces to close out since they were avoiding eye contact. I’m afraid I won’t be giving them another chance.

The food! Holy moly the sausage egg breakfast sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich either of us have ever had! It was a delightful explosion of flavor. We also had the cinnamon roll which was soft and perfect without being too sweet. The coffee was good as well; he had an espresso tonic and I had one of the specialty lattes. The latte was $7.50 with oatmilk which felt a little steep considering the size, but the sandwich erased my memory and made it worth it. Service gets a 3 only because there isn't really service. You order through a QR code and food magically appears without much interaction with servers. Overall, we will be back!
