Ponto De Encontro - Calheta

Another one of these small, local restaurants that may not look so impressive from the outside but they served a fantastic lunch. We decided not to go for the buffé and ordered a la carte. The lapas limpets was perfect, and the peixe do dia which was the boca negra black mouth fish that was to follow also very good. Also had some shrimp that tasted great. You need a car to get here, but that is no difference from any other place in the island.

The buffet has lots if salad components, braised beefs, chicken, fish croquet, sardines and different potatoes and rice as much as you can eat , with drinks for four people was €40. Great value.

This is a simple restaurant on the island of Sao Jorge that serves a buffet lunch consisting of the traditional Cozido, the food cooked in the thermal grounds around the volcanic activity. There is nothing fancy to this restaurant, but it does offer the basic island food that people appreciate. It also had soup, cheese and bread out for the taking. I found it to be sufficient, although I probably would have ordered something a little more imaginative, Still, the owners are very friendly, and it was an enjoyable stop on our tour. I would go back for a future lunch.
