Bidrage med feedbackSouth African waiter/owner, who knows?! he was so rude that we had to go out. never experienced anyone serving rudely in the restaurant. so many beautiful places near, they avoid this place.
We came here twice for lunch and filled us right through the day and evening. Portions are genourous. Recommend the house steak with Maderia red wine sauce.
My partner had the Bolognese pizza and he loved it. Was a good portion for what was supposed to be a small pizza. The waitress, Jessica, has a dry sense of humour and is very funny to us British and served us very well. For...dessert, my partner had the passion fruit pudding and I had two crepes with Nutella and a scoop of ice cream. Absolutely delicious. Watching the sunset and colours in the sky during our romantic dinner with the marina only twenty feet away.
This bar was our go-to at the end of the day. Situated on the marina in Calheta, it served speciality brews, ice creams of several sorts, pizza and a range of simple meals. It was great to sip our drinks and watch the sun go...down, and admire the heroic workers dangling off of the cliff face above as they struggled to stabilise the crumbling surfaces. It was here we met the lovely Jessica who served our drinks. During an interval, she talked in passionate terms about her island of Madeira and to our astonishment, offered to show us around Funchal, it's capital. On her day off, she turned up at our hotel, Saccharum, and drove into the town, showing off its many treasures, refusing any payment, just pleased and eager to show off her people. The owner of Aki's turned out to be a South African, so we had many discussions about the Rugby World Cup, in particular the up and coming semi-final final between Wales and the Springboks....the rest is history. We later flew back to our home in Wales!
Sat indoors as no suitable seating for 4 out and a tad breezy, but also the football was on Tv so a nice gesture to watch at least the first half of the England game. Changed channels to the Portugal game at half time even...though we seemed to be the only ones watching intently
