Bidrage med feedbackDifficult to find. Signage conflicting. Top sign says something different? Underneath it says Sweet Tooth. Warning, takes about 3-5 minutes per order. Yet once made and tasted the treat is well worth the wait. We really enjoyed the rolled NY Cheesecake and the Regular cookies...and cream. I ordered the Birthday cake which was one level down from the others but still good. Very small shop Chinatown. Something different and a very good experience. Well done.
Guided by an over confident teen with no sense of direction we haphazardly found Sweet Tooth Ice Cream in Calgary's downtown China Town . The line wasn't too long but it's still a 30min wait! The resulting discussion enlisted words of encouragement from patrons already...settled on the idea of waiting. The place looks like a low budget hole in the wall, but apparently it's worth the wait, so we do. So what are you in for? Well it's rolled ice cream and some interesting flavours. Today I settled on Black Magic, a charcoal and vanilla bean concoction with a hint of garden mint. Other options include Why so Salty?, S'more Please, Birthday Cake and Nutella Chill, just to name a few. But what's Rolled Ice Cream? Behind the counter 4 people work diligently pounding out drum like beats as they chop and smooth the ice cream and various fresh toppings on super cooled slabs. Then they artfully roll the frozen treat into 5-6 coils, top it with a little whip and viola! Rolled Ice Cream! However be warned, all that craftsmanship comes at a price, this isn't a cheap cone. Expect to pay about $10 for what amounts to about a scoop and 1/2 of Ice Cream. So is it worth it? Yup, if the weather is hot and the line isn't too far out the door then go splurge on this treat. The ingredients are fresh and it's refreshingly cool and creamy. Rolling it up is a nice twist and makes it feel like your eating something from another land, something a little special. Sure you could go somewhere else and get ice cream in half the time at half the cost, but it's worth checking out at least once, but be warned! once could lead to twice and then all of a sudden your okay waiting 45min or more for an overpriced ice cream treat.
Although it was hard to find parking, it was definitely worth it. Waiting wasn't too long and the ice was really good. They offer a quite wide selection of temples and ice selection, so you can really get your own.... But it was quite pricy. I recommend the triple threat!
First visit we ordered the last straw AMAZING! Second visit, ordered the same way, no falvour: some employees don't speak English.
I love to eat , love to find where had a good food. Travel different place USA to Asia. This place reminds me in Houston ice cream . So yum and friendly services . The price ok for me 9$ . I’m happy going back...again.
