Bidrage med feedbackLet's start with, this place isn't cheap, that said, service was excellent, food decent and ambiance was great. There is a nice selection of hot and cold dished, classics and creative new. There is an extensive wine, sake and cocktail list.We were offered an amuse bouche to start our meal which added a nice touch. We split a few rolls that were good, nothing overly memorable but nice quality.Overall an ok place to go if you feel like Japanese food and want to dress up but I think there are better options for your money.
If you are Sake fan it is almost worthwhile to visit just to explore the extensive and well explained Sake menu. That said the food is also very good and well prepared. I am n9t a roll fan so cannot comment on those but the tempura was excellent with the right amount of flour and still very hot when it got to the table.. Excellent sashimi as well as the rest of the food. The patio is nice while the inside décor is great,Highly recommendable
We had a late supper and the restaurant was quiet. The decor impressed and in our booth we did not feel isolated. We eat Japanese regularly (in London) and some Ki elements are good and some less so. Very good was the tuna (in various cuts) sashimi .. and the unusual salmon. The classic California roll was good as was the prawn tempura and yakitori. Less good was the miso soup, usually provided at nominal cost elsewhere. The Niigata sake was good, but not chilled and the sake glasses were wine glasses: quite bizarre. Service was friendly. Overall felt quite expensive, but not outrageous given the location and decor.
Went for lunch and although it is pricey definitely some of the best sushi in this town and the service at the bar was awesome
Ki is a great addition to the Calgary scene. It is masssive inside and and there are many nooks and crannies for couples; but, even in the open areas, because of the lighting, you feel intimate. The food is beautifully presented and reasonable value. The service however was not the same... having to ask for the desert menu and the bill from the bus staff is poor form. We were often wondering where the server was.
