Bidrage med feedbackWe ordered a variety of buns and received a complimentary one. We sampled the delightful pork bun, which is similar to a BBQ pork bun, as well as the spicy chicken bun, beef curry bun, pork belly bun, delicious pork bun, and taro bun. Each bun came with a chili dipping sauce for the savory ones. You have the option to purchase the buns hot or at room temperature. The fillings were flavorful and the bun itself had a perfect light and slightly sticky texture. We will definitely return to try the deluxe bun, veggie bun, and pickled pork bun.
It has been some time since my last visit, but the 'Bao' at this restaurant are still delicious. I tried the BBQ pork bun, which was filled with tasty meat in a sweet sauce. There is a great variety of options and the food is served hot. Metered parking is available on the street. The restaurant is small, but has a friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. I highly recommend trying their bao buns!
Visited this new place with family. Had assorted buns my fav was the chicken which had a slight kick to it. The others were BBQ delight fav) and Pork Deluxe. We were told the Pork Deluxe were the most popular but I...didn't like the egg in the bun. Prices range from to My mom makes homemade baos' and she even agreed that the ones I liked were pretty tasty considering she's a tough critic. We were told they make them in the store. The recipes are from grandma's recipe in Malaysia. There's no taste of anything processed' and way better than what is sold at T T! The place is directly across the street from Superstore on Kingsway (south side). Only have two small tables with chairs to eat. They also sell drinks. The place is bright and clean. I will definitely go there again.
Located in Burnaby, The Bao Place is a small restaurant that specializes in homemade steamed buns known as "bao". Open since September, the restaurant can be found opposite the Metrotown Mall. The concept is straightforward - all items are freshly made daily by the owner, with no frozen or reused ingredients. The buns have a fluffy, sweet dough with a variety of savory (such as pork, BBQ, veggie, curry) and sweet (like buttermilk, red bean, taro, hot soya) fillings. They are kept warm in a large stainless steel steamer behind the counter and range in price from $ to $. I tried two buns for lunch and found them to be satisfying. The owner mentioned that the recipe is inspired by traditional Malaysian baos. The restaurant has minimal seating, so takeout is likely your best option, but the buns are definitely worth it. I look forward to visiting again and highly recommend trying them if you are in the area.
While i totally love those wonder steamed buns of New Town Bakery in Chinatown (east pender), it's a trip for me given i live around Metrotownso when i
