Bidrage med feedbackWe made a dinner reservation for 6:30 pm, thinking it would give us plenty of time before the Derek Ryan concert starting at 8 pm. We were brought a complimentary bread and dip platter while waiting for our starter. However, the starter took a long time to arrive. By 7:40, we still hadn't received our main course. I asked the waiter to check on our main course as we needed to be at the concert soon. It arrived shortly after, but we had to rush through it and ended up leaving half of it uneaten. The service from the kitchen was extremely poor, and next time we will choose to dine at McGettian's Bar instead.
We tried the 5 course carvery at this restaurant for 23 euros and it was excellent. Our favorite part was the starters, particularly the hot prawns in batter, cold salmon, and mayo tartlets. We skipped the soup in favor of trying other delicious dishes. For the main course, we both had the roast lamb, which was cooked well-done but we would have liked it a bit pinker. The desserts were also delicious, although they are served to you in large slices instead of buffet style, which we would have preferred. Tea, coffee, and orange dilute were included as well. In conclusion, it was a lovely meal overall.
Dined in this restaurant on a recent overnight in the Clanree Hotel. First thing that we noticed was there were no prices on the menu. There was just a list of meals so we asked the waitress what the prices were. She started then to tell us there were different options as regards the number of courses we could have, and the price etc. It would have made much better sense to put all the prices and the options on the menu – at least it would give diners a chance to have their minds made up by the time their meal orders were taken. It would have saved us having to ask and then the waitress having to recite the whole lot. We opted for two courses – mains and dessert. We had mains of Fish and Chips and Baked Loin of Bacon. Both were delicious and the portions generous. Desserts were equally tasty and our two-course meal with a bottle of wine cost us under €60, which is excellent value. Unfortunately there was one very negative experience in the restaurant – as we finished our meal I noticed a lady bringing her dog out of the restaurant. She arrived back in with it a few minutes later, but wasn’t challenged by any of the staff on duty. We asked at reception what the policy about animals in the restaurant was and we were told they weren’t allowed – however it transpired that the lady with the dog was the owner of McGettigans Pub in the hotel. So does that mean that all guests can bring their dogs into the restaurant? I don’t think so and if there is a rule of no animals in the restaurant, it should apply to everyone, regardless of who they are. It is just not acceptable on health and safety grounds. Unfortunately it has made us rethink a visit to the Clanree, even though we enjoyed it. Dogs should not be in any hotel, never mind a restaurant.
Attended the Clanree recently for a dinner dance function. The meal started off ok with the soup being served. After the soup was served the serving station was next to our table so the staff were collecting all the empty bowls and gathering them on the table, one watress benged a bowl dowl which was still half full and got soup over one of our parties dress. The main course was next. 5 of us were having beef, which all arrived together. Any one who had order turkeyed had to wait for ages adn then they began to arrive one by one. By the time we had finished eating the beef one turkey still hadnt been served so when it did there were no patatoes left so one of our party had to eat there dinner which was cold with no potatoes and on there own. when the gravy arrived at the table they banged it down so hard it splashed in my partners face, with out so much as an apology. As soon as the meal was over the staff came around and asked us to stand up to they took the seat cover off the seat as they didn 't want them getting dirty . I went to the bar, to be served by the bar manager, I asked for 2 vodkas, but when he served me huzzar vodka I said I would rather smirnoff. He said ther already poured now. Having worked in a bar for years I know its not hard top put them back into hte bottle, which I suggested. He replied do you think I have time for this . When the music finished the staff immediately came around asking us to leave, by shouting get out to . We said we were waiting on a taxi only to be told ive work in the morning so just get out. A male worker even came in to the ladies toilet and said every one get out now. I found my evening in this hotel shocking. I didnt think such bad service and ignorance could even exist, I will never ever be in this hotel again and I would warn any one I know to steer clear.
