Tropicana Latin Grill - Buford

I really do hate to have to update my review. I gave them a 5 previously on yelp and on google, but after my experience last Friday I just cant believe I was at the same restaurant. I have a great relationship with the manager Jorge and have had good service everytime I have been but I think the server we had last week just didnt want to be there. Maria is the server we had this time. She was very unkind and put-offish from the moment we sad down. The food and service has gone down as I think they having an identity crisis to see if they 'll be a restaurant or a night club. She took our drink orders of water and didnt come back until we flagged her down. We then begrudgingly ordered mojitos not sure how long it would take and saw her sitting around on the wall talking to others while our mojitos just sit up there at the bar. I think she was trying to figure out what costume she was wearing for the party later and had no interest in being our server. Another server actually had to bring our drinks to us. Then we had to flag maria down to order now. As we waited on our orders we saw Maria grab her bags and leave. Didnt say she was leaving or anything and we were just sitting there. We had to flag another server down and she said, Oh yea Maria had to step out . How do you leave your table without saying anything? Unacceptable and we didnt have our food and the drinks were done. I 've never experienced anything like this and we were left pretty much asking for service from anyone that could help. Jorge was very busy and we had to leave or I wouldve pulled him for a conversation about this as I was looking to host my birthday here this month until then. If you go, please ask to sit in Sade 's section or anyone else 's.

We have been here so many times — before and after the pandemic— i always get the cubano bowl. I have tried a lot of their dishes but this is the best. Also, don’t forget to try the venezuelan spring rolls Tequeños. My daughter and I are obsessed with it. Great staff and great service. Pls don’t close again

What an amazing restaurant! Loved the fried plantains, best thing ever!

This is a great latin spot in Buford. From the atmosphere to the service to the food, everything was perfect. The restaurant is decorated well, they have a little selfie area in the back they have a VIP area that they use for the nights they have live music. We went in the afternoon one weekend we were seated attended to pretty quickly. Our waitress helped us with the menu gave us recommendations. The menu has so much to choose from everything looked so good. I ordered the pollo loco bowl hubby had the trifongo. I have no complaints about either meal, both entrees were cooked seasoned well. We also had the chicken empanadas, they were served hot crispy. Overall, I love this place can't wait to go back try more.

An excellent restaurant! Service was very good and efficient. The food was excellent. I had the Marinade steak, with white rice, black beans and plantains. Just perfect. Prices were very reasonable. Excellent atmosphere. We really enjoyed our experience.
