Bidrage med feedbackWe ate fish. I had an excellent Abadejo, unfortunately my wife torn to eat tuna and she didn't get a piece completely defroze. So if you go there, you better choose one of the local fish.
My partner and I ventured to El Muelle in part because we wanted to escape the confessions of Palermo and also because an acquaintance had recommended it. The location on the banks of the river is dramatic and beautiful. The old charming building, the house of Casa de Pescadores, is great. We had a very nice but not extraordinary dinner. We split a shrimp into garlic butter and fried Calamari to begin. Both were very nice. My partner had the salmon as the main course and I had seabass in a tomato sauce. Both good. We shared a wonderful bottle of Argentine Chardonnay that made dinner in many ways. Not sure we'd go back, but it's worth a visit.
I enjoyed my dinner tonight at the El Muelle Restaurant. It is a beautiful restaurant in a historic Fisherman Club on the Plata River near Aeroparque Airport. For beginners I had the Seared Tuna who was amazing and my main course was the Shrimp Paella. The service was excellent! Just remember that servers are waiting in Argentina until you call them, unlike the USA where they come frequently. I recommend eating outside on the terrace so you can enjoy the views of the river! This restaurant was a good alternative to the steak I usually eat here. I'm here in Buenos Aires several times a month.
There are a few reviews here that claim El Muelle is not a good value for the money. Wow, I really don't agree. My wife and I had several appetizers and a great Calamari appetizer. For dinner my wife had a phenomenal grilled octopus and I had wonderful lamb ravioli in a reduced broth, accompanied by a fantastic Cab from Salta. We finished with a degustación de dulce de leche with coffee. That wasn't just good food... that was food made with love and skill. Everything was perfect, and in the end we paid much less than one would pay in a run-of-the-mill chain restaurant in the United States for a comparable meal. I'm sorry we left Buenos Aires: if we live in the area, this restaurant would be in our regular rotation. Bottom line: wonderful food in a charming place at a very reasonable price.
Food is OK, not great for the price, not to be shared, cazuela de mariscos is to share between 2 but lack of a side dish, so ask for some kind of potatoes or rice if you order it. service ok but could be better. I liked the deserts.
