It is a very traditional place with history, great service, great pizza, very good location. Usually it's full, so it's a good idea to come early or wait.
This place is so attractive to the eye. Great decor, barbecue on the street, many outdoor seating and beautiful servers. But if you run servers without being seen management (except in cash, collecting revenues), you hear to think. The food is above average, the servers, certainly better than most. But they run around with too many tables without an ounce of support. None. It can be good to go here when it's slow, but the management is down here. I'm sorry for the servers. It really shut me down.
First, the situation is amazing. I also think this is the only restaurant in Buenos Aires to offer a salad bar that is great. You can take what you want when you order a meat dish. I got the asado and it wasn't great. It could have been, but it was not cooked as I asked. I'm not used to sending dishes back to the kitchen, so I ate the whole thing, but I wasn't happy. My brother had her bife de lomo and it was good. Empanadas are quite expensive. The service was not the best. Overall, it was okay, but something overpriced.
I wish I would have had my camera. This was a return trip to this gem of a restaurant. Located in a mostly residential area of the city, the trellised entrance is right at the intersection of two streets. to the right is a covered out door area with picnic style tables and benches. Straight ahead you enter the more formal, still rather informal, dining area with seating on either right or left of the entrance. Seating areas are broken up into smaller spaces giving the restaurant a more intimate feel. In Argentina Beef is king and we could not pass up the opportunity to have some great steaks. The restaurant offers a salad bar along with the meal that includes the usual lettuce, spinach, sliced hard boiled eggs, tomatoes and also several types of beans, parsleyed noodles and potato salad. To start I ordered a beef empanada and my husband a chorizo (argentine sausage) The main course was Steak, Tenderloin for my husband and strip steak for me, well prepared and juicy; as an accompaniment we had an order of French fries plentiful enough for two, hot, crisp, and delicious, I could eat those all day. To accompany the meal I had a glass or Malbec and my husband an argentine beer, and of course the always present mineral water. What a way to end the year!
