Kawana Chinese Restaurant - BUDDINA

Went here with my husband mid week, it was very busy and service was a bit slow. Fortunately the food was worth waiting on. It was a little bit more expensive than others and not the most palatial surroundings, but I'd happily go again if we were in the area.

First time meal and I ended up throwing it out. Regrettably this was not up to par by any means. The food was dripping in fatty substances. I just could not eat it. We usually have Chinese at home (we're visiting), which is very enjoyable.

Bought takeaway on a Saturday night. When I went to collect it, I should have been warned by the fact that there were only two people eating in the restaurant. Food was gluggy and tasteless and there were no vegetables in any dish. Never again. Please be warned.

Having walked past and read the menu on the window last week we booked for my son's birthday dinner last night. On arrival we eventually sat ourselves at the only set table and proceeded to wait, thinking someone might even bring us some glasses for the BYO wine we sat on the table. During this time we looked at the menu and were shocked that the prices were SO much dearer than advertised. I should mention it's not like they were run off their feet, at least 2 staff watched us through the kitchen window the whole time we'd stood waiting at the counter, and only one other table had anyone sitting at it, those people nearly finished. After a good 15mins we stood, walked 2 steps to the counter, and someone came to serve us for a takeaway order, which we were told would be a 25 minute wait. The whole time we were there (including after our order) we did see 2 other take away orders collected. The takeaway was much cheaper than the eat in menu, and the food was pretty good, although the mongolian lamb we took home was actually only half a dish, and most of that was onion. I'm used to chinese takeaway squeezing out the sides as lids are applied certainly didn't have to worry about that here. All in all, disappointing. Less than 25% meat in even the best of the 4 dishes we ordered. Chicken cashews was mainly veg, and nuts were very soggy.

Hadn't been here for a while so thought we would give it another try. It's ok but average at best. We tried a couple of different mains and both were smothered in slices of onion. Just a little bit of meat heaps of onion. Other vegies were almost not existent. Won't be back in a hurry.
