Mama Roma - Buckhannon

I recently discovered what might be the best Italian restaurant I have ever visited! Despite having been to restaurants all over the country and in several other countries, I stumbled upon this hidden gem in the small town of Buckhannon, West Virginia. My dining companions and I enjoyed a delicious Caprese salad, Chicken tortellini soup, fresh garlic rolls, and Rigatoni Francesco with meat sauce. The portions were generous, and we ended up needing takeout containers. Every dish was made with the freshest ingredients. As an Italian and a skilled cook myself, I rarely come across Italian restaurants that impress me, but this place exceeded my expectations. It was well worth the two-hour motorcycle ride for us, as we were vacationing in Webster Springs.

Despite having to wait 45 minutes for my order and receiving the wrong salad with blue cheese crumbles (which I do not like), the eggplant in the delicious sauce was outstanding and freshly made. The fresh garlic rolls were amazing. The service was excellent.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! The food is comparable to what you would find at a high-end Italian restaurant, but in a cozy, homey atmosphere. The staff is welcoming and provides excellent service, but what really impressed me was the garlic bread. It truly melts in your mouth and is made fresh every day. As someone who travels frequently for work, I can confidently say that this is one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever visited.

I've had pasta dishes here and loved them. I wanted to be more calorie conscious this visit so had the Italian salad with egg, pepperoni, ham, cappicola, and olives. The salad was huge! I was only able to eat about half of it and took the rest home. The thing I didn't care for was the Italian Balsamic house dressing. It had a very strong balsamic flavor that covered up the taste of the other ingredients. Next time I'll just get a different dressing. The service was efficient and friendly, and the restaurant is clean and pleasant. I plan to come here again soon.

A little short staffed the day we was there but the service was still excellent. 2 pizzas and cheese sticks was excellent. Highly recommended.
