Very good staff and very good food! Great pani puri chaat as well
Great service, best chai in the areaA no-frills eatery smack in the middle of Jackson Heights. The momos and various chaats we tried were flavorful, and took us, a bunch of South Asian expats, on a trip back home. The items are customizable, and be sure to indicate the spice level you are comfortable with. Generally, the food is spicy. The place has a homely feel, and the owner, Agha, is usually around, taking orders and chatting with customers.Much like the Karakoram mountain peak it is named after, the food on offer will take you on a culinary trip spanning Pakistan, India or China.
Wanting a quick snack before heading onto the neighboring R train, we stopped in for some steamy hot momo and respite from the cold. The gentleman at the counter was doing everything himself, from serving customers to preparing all the dishes. We ordered the pani puri and a tray of steamed chicken momo (pictured). I am not a big fan of pani puri, but my partner said it was good. I did love the chicken momo and the sauce for dipping was spectacular. We paid around $15 in total for everything, including two waters, so its a steal if you are in the area. Like others have mentioned, this is a hole in the wall and sort of hidden within a storefront selling calling cards.
I was here during my food tour in january and I tried the Pani Puri and BRO BEST SNACK/FOOD I HAD IN NYC DURING THAT NINE DAYS AND I TESTED ABOUT 32 RESTAURANTS! IT SMACKED! I AM FROM GERMANY.
