Bidrage med feedbackWhat a find I'd never been before and like to check trip advisor before going and this looked good and it was excellentI had the golden fried chicken wings and they tasted like chicken used to - don't know how they achieved this but they were fantastic I had red beef curry for main - this was without doubt one of the best main meals I have had since I can remember - it was so full of flavour, the beef was so tender you could cut it with a fork, excellent textures added. I asked for hot - the main waiter was surprised I ate it so easily but I said I would have loved hotter so I know now to ask for extra hot - they had set it for Australian palate !! But I don't care it was sensationalI cannot fault this simple restaurant the service very friendly and food sensationalI didn't have dessert as we had to leave but I'll be backAlso good we just paid half each and no rules about one bill per table hurled at me which I don't like at all - that main waiter didn't mind a bitI like this place
It had been a long time between visits so we were happy to catch up with friends at Makanan last night. My friend is Indonesian and the first to say how authentic the food is. Every time I have eaten here, it is tasty and delicious. Service is good. Just sucks that Mono was on holidays (the resident entertainer). A great casual dining (and BYO) experience with authentic cuisine.
This is my fourth visit to this place. I have never disappointed. It is VERY authentic Indonesian restaurant. I loved beef randang, beef dendang, boiled chilli eggs, and perkadal (potato with corned beef). Satey, is not their thing apparently. It is a bit pricey but it worth every penny.
I love the gado gado here! A night at Makanan means a vegetarian feast for me. It's inexpensive and very laid-back. The family who runs it are very sweet. A highlight of any Makanan dinner is getting to watch Mono perform love songs on his keyboard... go on a weekend and don't miss him!
This is where I always go whenever I'm craving for Indonesian food in Brisbane. The food is quite good. Although if you are familiar with the taste of the original food, you might not like it that much because some food taste quite different. But for Indonesian people, this is a good place if you are looking for a plate of satays or nasi goreng. The place is not spacious, but it's decent for a group of 4 people. The service is good and the owner is friendly. The price is average, not too expensive - but definitely not cheap if you're converting IDR to AUD.
