Helmston isn't just an incredible cafe, it's a portal into the kind of society I want to live in. Andy is a spirited, passionate, skillful host and chef. His attention to detail is exceptional and the love he puts into his work is obvious. I wholeheartedly recommend that you visit enough times to try the entire menu, it's all amazing. My current favourite is the Wolfy megamix, and the almond cigars. I've made some wonderful new friends by striking up conversations in the back. Sometimes the food can take a while, but you can't rush perfection! Long live helmston!
Walking past in the rain as the cafe was closing and the owner jumps out and offers me some free food. First reaction, peversely, is an internal 'no ' but then I look at what 's on offer and change my mind abruptly. Now back home and eating the gift a delicious crispy based ricotta, beetroot and walnut flan. Free food AND a stimulating Q&A (Q 's from me) about the colourful and potent history of Helmston. Made my evening.
I'm a recent newbie to Helm Ston and have now become a regular. In my opinion Helm Ston does the best vegan salads in Brighton. The chef is amazing and really skilful at what he does! Treat yourself.
I've been coming to the Helmstone for over a year and half now. And the owner and Chef is a outstanding with the food he has on the menu and creates. Always very friendly and welcoming. He's a culinary expert on presentation and flavours in all his dishes. He prepares it all fresh and hand made from the early morning everyday. A magnificent array of savoury and sweet products displayed in the glass counters as you walk in. Which I must say are all incredible. Nothing I have not tried being a lover of good food. My favourites being the Sussex Tasty, flat rats, chick pea roll and salmon turn over. All bursting with abudnace of flavours and textures. I've always found the owner to be very polite and friendly. Always accommodating for dietary requirements and an in depth knowledge of his products and ingredients used. Great selection of cold pressed juices and speciality coffees with non dairy alternatives. And in the shop your mind is always occupied with the array of decorations and ornaments on display around the incense and candles also on sale inside. Seating available inside and out which makes it a great go to for breakfast and lunch! Don't hesitate and get yourself down there for your own experience. Highly recommend to friends and family when visiting Brighton!
