The general trend to handcrafted brewed beer now lets even the big breweries be thrown on the market in strangely knocked products, and so the retrospective of old brautugende has also created a craftbeer scene in Germany, which with unusual compositions and aromas makes for more and more. there does not make any noise. two years ago there were three breweries of former 35 in the year 1748, which were still aktiw in the town of the Hanseatic City. Today, with the bremer braumanufaktur, the Grebhan’s Brewery and the union brauerei a few regional hopshers have come to it. And even professing friends of the Mosel-Riesling draws it back and forth into the “Craft bier Bar” on the wall, in which you can choose between 40 different!!!. In addition, more than 100 bottled eggs are available for the global shower. who is too open to the world, probably goes a little further north to the hip union brewery. the jewellery, today listed anbeing, sneaked around 50 years ago as a “brauruine” before it was elaborately renovated and reopened in December 2015. with modern technology, the historic brick building has been raised to the “Freien brau union Bremen” and the independentness is anchored in the name. one finally sees itself as an independent free craft brewery and that fits perfectly into the at least as free city of the man. on the impressively restored brewery grounds there is a shop in which, in addition to the varied bottle beer offer, 9 different sorts! also all sorts of devotionalia around the freshly tapped “gemerchandised”. caps, t-shirts and hoodies are waiting for their young pale crochets with the brewery logo. a few steps higher in the generous brew garden are regularly transferred the games of the sw ber under the glass roof. with beautiful weather, this can even be opened. gastronomic of interest is the connected brewery guest house, in which it can be dine in a very nice way. “Don’t clap – knock!” seems to be the motto of the operators. the money put in must come back somehow. no wonder that the beer of the union brewery will find itself in many well-stocked supermarkets. but mass production is actually rather in the opposite direction to the “Craftbier Thought”... well, you should always get the taste picture yourself. why not connect it to a rustic dinner? already during our last visit last winter we had a meal in the brewhouse on our culinary agenda, but the short stay did not allow it at that time. postponed is not cancelled and so we reserved a table for five people in the extensive bremer bierpalast on a Wednesday evening at the beginning of august. outside the high round-edge windows were placed a few tables, but they were completely occupied due to the warm weather. through the entrance hall with the impressive sloping plaque, which offers a successful overview of the different malt, hop species and beer varieties, you can reach the rustically decorated, hall-like brewery guesthouse. first eye-catcher to the left: the imposing theken area with the shiny aluminium tanks in high position. from them the handcrafted tapped down into the tapping system. with derbem wood furniture and earthy parquet flooring you will return to the flair of the vile. if the dimensions were somewhat smaller and they don't even cover so high, would even be comfortable. at least after the first pale ale. the front wall passes through an indirectly illuminated wooden shelf with beer bottles of a wide variety of provenance. on a retracted wall can be traced the historie of the union brewery with aid framed pictures from ancient times. you can feel the efforts of the operators to install an unavoidable brewhouse atmosphere in the venerable hall. this, however, only partially succeeds. the gastro range is too voluminous. who stands on a bierzelttrubel will surely feel comfortable. a romantic craftbeer dinner to two is more difficult. the young people changed, and we were not always aware of who had been assigned exactly to our table. but the service was largely smooth. also one stopped with the obligatory duzen, which is not always the case in such places of hipness. the cute young man with crisp and baseball keppi – there it was again, the cliché – enough us the food cards clamped on the cold, as is in such trendy etablissements usus. who waits here for anachronistic brewhouse kitchen with chicken, haxen and drunk, will be surprised by the offer. from the emder Matjes-Stulle 5,90 euro to the bremer baked fish in biertig 12,50 euro will prepare various eating habits of culinary nourishing floor. sharp mini hot dogs are declared as “five chain” 8.90 euro and the white carving from the calf comes either in the original outfit with beer, fries or potato curling salad, 18,50 euro or in the cheaper chicken breast version 11,90 euro from the kitchen. besides classifying the progressive food globalization of burger, papadams, dumplings and caesar salad, there is also a real “Union craft food” such as the pasta with bark fill strips 14,50 euro. for the mixed grill plate with chicken breast, Porter sausage, chopsteak and bark fillet medallion 18,50 euro did not suffice my hunger. that would have been my long-lasting colleague from monnem, nice that some of them were given a suitable beer recommendation. so far, so richly the food offer, which was supplemented by reference to the 14-day Spare-Ribs Thursday and the upcoming “Bremer Oktoberfest”. beside skurril-looking biercocktails, such as rhabarber juice choir with red beer, lemon and brown sugar, eight different types come from the barrels and tanks fresh through the bleeding system. In addition, a few “bottle friends” bothered beker, ratsherrn, brew dog and crew republic the exquisite beer offer. And for the “Hopfenmuffel” lost here from uninventive ground, there are even a few red and white wines – some of them even from the pfalz! – available. the prices for the self-bread are not shy. around the 5 euro you have to invest 0.4 liter for the “wrong lap”. the so-called “Bremer Brett” offers five sorts to taste for 6,90 euro. a good opportunity to complete the entry course in items craftbier. also good: the freshly tapped taffetas are briefly explained in the map with regard to their brewing, colour and taste direction. the süffige hanseat is not to be understood here as offensive of the estimated GG colleagues, but in version 2.0 represented my first “free bremer beer” of the evening. next to me, the beer board was opened in a degustation lantern. I add to it the “Union beef Burger” with some 200g of freshly grounded bark chop, beef but hello! , cheddar, tomate, salat and union competed as a matching “substance” as 13.50 euro. ok, for the sake of completeness I must confess that I pimped it with extra-bascon 1.50 euro. the prosperous beef burger went on our table three times. the inferiority had, on the other hand, more of the idea. with us in the pfalz, we call the eternally long cooked pork quite unpretentiously “plucked anger”. that it can also be very well placed between two Brioche buns, is no longer a culinary discovery. the “Pulled pork burger” came standard with cole slaw, coriander, Pale-Ale-Mangochutney and Union frets for 12,50 euro on the teller. his fibrous meat had a tasty smoker contact and was wonderfully suffocated. as with my Classic-Burger, there was also a delicately seasoned “Union-Fritten” as a supplement next to the pig-Burger. the frits resembled from the shape somewhat thicker kartoffel chips, were beautifully crispy outside and still slightly fluffy inside. they did not drink before fat and were not even so difficult to digest. with the necessary upper or lower ferment in the glass it was possible to rinse it all well. my burger didn't get to the carlsruher Deli-Bulettes, but it was quite neat from the meat. fine pubfood, which seemed to me a little too expensive with 15 euro. for the offered I lacked some creativity as I had them a few weeks before in new town at bruno between the buns. they can be brewed in the union, that is out of question. the bremer pale ale, which I glowed after the copper-colored hanseaten, tasted damn delicious and also my companions mastered their bremer beer sample quite well. no stunning aha experience in sachen hopfenwürze, but already far better than the global industrial trucks of the Anheuser-Busch concert from the weserufer. It is clear that the Unionbräu also notices the departure from the garage beer thanks. to mass-compatible and too smoothly ironed in the taste, the crafted sud appeared to me as if he could take it with the “hop and malt shots” of smaller breweries, such as Grebhan’s. but the rough brew landscape enriches it all, and when the hype has flown in a few years, the prices are also correct.
