Bidrage med feedbackI recently visited a cozy take-out restaurant in Brampton that was very welcoming. However, I was disappointed to discover that they only offered three vegan options: veggie noodles, rice, and a mashed potato dish. I was really hoping for curry and roti, but I was informed by the staff that all their curries and sauces are made with ghee (clarified butter) instead of vegetable oil. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but limited in vegan choices. This review has been updated as of December 3, 2021.
I really enjoy the dosas and idlis at this restaurant. There are plenty of other South Indian vegetarian dishes to choose from as well.
This vegetarian takeout spot, named after the Elephant God Ganpati/Vinayak, is a hidden gem for me. It was worth the 30 km drive to Brampton to pick up some food. We ordered a wide variety of dishes for a family event and aimed for 20 items, but ended up with almost 40. The onion pakoras were outstanding (20/10, not a typo), as were the masala idli, thali with tamarind rice or lemon rice (both 10/10 with a slight upcharge), all the vegetable curries, medu vadas, spinach medu vadas, samosas, fritters, stuffed breads, and delicious desserts like mango-flavored and coconut treats. The best part? Most of the items we bought were vegan. There were a few dairy dishes like raita and dahi wadas, but we skipped the masala dosas, regular idlis, puttus, noodles, and pasta (yes, they had pasta, possibly Tamil or Sri Lankan style) among many other tempting options. I can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu.
Very friendly Brampton take restaurant. Unfortunately, they only have three vegan options- veggie noodles, rice and a mash potato peel. I wanted Curry and Roti. However, the staff confirmed that all curries and sauces were produced with ghee (clear butter) and not with vegetable oil. Updated by previous rating on 2021-12-03
Love Dosas idlis here. Many other South Indian vegetarian options to choose from.
