Bidrage med feedbackThe hidden BBQ stand in the middle of a park. I ordered a combo #2 and saw that everybody was raving over the burnt ends so I picked that up as well. The reviews were right, the burnt ends were the best I've tried. I had sides of candied yam, mac and cheese, rice, and coleslaw--all what you would expect in a good southern BBQ. The lines did become a bit long and many orders came flying in because the food is that good. My advice, plan ahead. Expect some waiting as the husband and wife juggle the window orders and online orders, so order a bit more because you dont want to miss out. On a side note, a rabbit in the park kept me company while waiting. I wanted to get seconds while eating, but I didn't want to contend with another wait. I know I'll have to visit again to fulfill my BBQ needs. Did I mention the burnt ends? It's been hours and I'm still thinking about them. They close up at around 7:30PM if the orders stop despite their sign saying 9PM for some nights. The owner even came out to the patrons to apologize of the wait and to see how we were doing when their was a lull in the ordering. His voice is deep and loud, so I can understand how it could be mistaken as rude, but he was really sincere and kind. It was also interesting to hear that he had friends in Guam where I'm from. As their motto says, it's fresh food, not fast food.
Perched inside of a picturesque greenway in the heart of Seaport, Larry J's BBQ serves about as many staples and mains as you could ask for. If you've spent any time reading reviews of their customer service, you might be inclined to assume that their service is bad, and- as it pertains to customer coddling, you'd be right. Thick skin and a degree of patience can help you. If you find yourself at odds with him, remind yourself that you're dining at a no-nonsense, BBQ joint armored with panel wood notably out of place against the solid steel facades of Seaport institutions like Legal, Lolitas, Del Frisco, etc. And at the end of the day, if you're there to get solid BBQ, that's exactly what you'll get. The ribs are great, brisket is of decent quality, and the roasted wings are supremely juicy with a perfect, savory crunch. The Mac and Cheese is great too. Don't come here to have your hand held. Come here for BBQ.
The burnt ends platter with Texas BBQ, french fries and mac&cheese is Excellent. Hard pressed to find better BBQ around Boston.
This place is amazing. Portions for the platters are enormous. Great patio to have a beer and bbq. 10/10
Hit the spot! Perfectly smoked chicken and brisket, greens and not overly sweet candied yams. The owner was friendly and engaging as was his lovely wife. We'll be back!
