Bidrage med feedbackAs a great alternative to all the TexMex places in Shreveport, La Jaibita gets a solid recommendation. Tacos, enchiladas and tamales are decent. I recommend the camarones al diabla (shrimp in spicy red sauce). More known for their seafood dishes rather than their tacos, enchiladas, tamales or fajitas. Brush up on your spanish they don't speak much english.
Food was great! They don't speak much English there... but then again my Spanish sucks. Oh and plates are huge and full of food... so bring your appetite or share a meal. Next time we will bring the kids and order 2 meals.
The seafood salad and the margaritas were delicious!
The Best in Shreveport Bossier. I 'm a huge fan of local eateries and of authentic Mexican food, and I have found nothing quite like Mariscos la Jaibita in all of Shreveport Bossier. Incredible Monterrey style Mexican seafood is the specialty here. House specialties include a phenomenal crab stew 'Caldo de Jaiba ' on the menu, if I remember correctly , an equally amazing seafood stew that includes just about anything that swims 'Sopa de 7 Mares ' , phenomenal shrimp cocktails see my photo , octopus and fish ceviche tostadas, and more. You can also get more Tex Mex style food here, but why would you? If you 're a fan of fajitas, take a friend and try their parillada for two it 's basically a steaming, cast iron table that they bring out to your table covered in short ribs, shrimp, chorizo, peppers of all kinds, onions, and more. It is to die for.<br/ <br/ They have live music on Thursday nights and on a recent Sunday afternoon, a flamenco guitarist was just wandering from table to table, serenading folks. This was an unforgettable dining experience.<br/ <br/ They also have my favorite cocktail in town, their michelada. It 's basically a mix of fresh squeezed lime juice, clamato, and beer. It retails for $8.50, though, so I don 't get to have it often. In fact, this place is kind of a 'special occasion ' place for my wife and I, because it usually runs us $50 or more for two. But it is incredibly, incredibly good. <br/ <br/ The service is also fantastic, considering the language barrier not a lot of English is spoken here.
I had gotten a $20 voucher from Groupon I paid for. That's how I found out about the restaurant. I'm don't know much of this area of Bossier; so I wasn't really used to anything here. The first thing I found wrong with the business is that their sign is much too small and easily missed. So, we passed it accidentally, but then had to turn around. It's connection along a small strip mall of other businesses and seems to serve/cater to a nice small Hispanic community. The atmosphere is okay, not too bright, too dark, welcoming, but it was loud becuase we were seated right in front of radio and it was bothering my mother's ears behind her. We asked to sit somewhere else, but the nice waitress just turned it down. We felt bad becuase it was a mostly Hispanic setting, and since we were the only ones not of their heritage, I didn't want them thinking we were ignorant or anything. We just wanted another table. The size of their cups for drinks will definitely make you feel like you got your money's worth, but their lemonade was VERY strange. I can't describe the taste. The food didn't take long to get, but I was disappointed in the bread shrimp. When biting through, the shrimp either didn't want to come out or it tasted too rubbery, and my shrimp looked slightly burnt. I was presented with a nice salad on the side automatically coming with a side of ranch, but there was no dipping sauce for the shrimp. Fries were nothing special. Salsa was unique and great. The chips along with it were kind of too hard and thick. Not impress with the food 4 stars for service and honoring the Groupon Voucher.
